9.3x62 An Old Classic (Pics)

Have always been fascinated by the 9.3x62 and wanted a rifle that would do justice to the German heritage and nostalgia of this old classic ammo.

How about this one? Heinrich Barella (http://www.damascus-barrels.com/German_ ... rella.html) Mauser 9.3x62, half octagonal/round barrel, full length rib. The rib is not soldered on but the barrel and rib is machined from a single block of steel.




























Barella also had some Indian connection. Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala was a customer. Some archive pictures of his visit to Barella facility and a hunt arranged for him (courtesy http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showthre ... ber=208106).

What is there to say?!! My keyboard is wet from drooling on it . What a beauty! . Thanks for posting pics and the history. Old Mauser actions have proportions that can't be matched in other rifle actions. They are classic, and this one is really outstanding.

Herb, if this is how you demand justice, you ought to be on the Supreme Court! It is so true, in my eyes, nothing can match an M98 for classic lines, and I'll admit that I prefer German style over British and American styles, your rifle here, with tasteful embellishment and smooth lines is beautiful, and certainly does justice to the classic cartridge it chambers.

I have not shot this rifle yet, these original sporting Mausers are one of the best handing rifles I have come across. They handle like a Brno .22 and come up and the sights lineup like an extension of your arms.

It is so true, in my eyes, nothing can match an M98 for classic lines, and I'll admit that I prefer German style over British and American styles.

Timmy - I agree, love these old German guns, even their shotguns are a joy. Here is one made in Ferlach Austria, not German but close.
