excellent post danish. The maharajas of india kept the british firms in business. Otherwise the poor buggers would still be without jobs.

I think they were maharaja's of India who started ordering make to order guns from purdey, churchil, holland & holland, westley richards etc. And their rates shoot up. BTW this rifle of Maharaja Sarguja is for sale of $ 59999. If any one intersted can buy this beauty.

With all due respect to H&H who was a terrific shot with a rifle and a shotgun. I'd like to add that the number of Tigers shot by H.H. Sarguja also included the embryos in the stomach of the shot Tigresses. Maybe it was a part of hunting ettiquette then, one doesn't know. This is what I learnt from a very reliable source l close to the this royal family. Frankly I do not care about it being true or false. The fact still remains that he holds the world record for the Tigers shot by any individual. I was also told by the same person that in the 20's, the Tigers were a big manace around Sarguja town due to it's geographical location, a rich Tiger habitat. So much so that the Tigers were considered vermin and a danger to human settlements. Interestingly, most of the Tigers he shot were within 10-15 miles of his palace. Thought this might interest you all.
