BSA 3006
This is the link to pictures of acquaintance's BSA 3006 I have seen it twice but never took its model and serial number. It seems to be a well kept rifle and they bought it few years back.

Navi,
The rifle seems to be in a good nick . Is this firearm in India ( from the pictures I imagine it is )
And is the owner interested in selling it ?

It's always better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it !

Re: BSA 3006
any more pic ? as there is no writing seen on the top of the receiver, but on the barrel there seems to be some marking. can you get pics of that. maybe some more marking if the stock is removed, you may see some underside of the receiver/barrel. other wise not able to see what model it is.
it looks in very good shape, hows the bore?

it seems to have the rear sights remove but the front sights are intact.
looks like top loader ?

Chief
I have been asking the busy bodies to take proper pictures for model and make. Honestly I have only handled this rifle in passing probably twice.. one of those things... Top loader then I was wrong about the magazine part. Lets see what turns out now with the rifle...never heard them complaint about bore. Shoots pretty nice per the folks who handled it.
Thanks

Re: BSA 3006
It has a magazine but may not be removable via magazine catch, but needs to be toped up from the top.(i think)
made a mistake on the last post. it has front sight and rear sight, with holes for scope base on the receiver.
the serial number can be just seen on the barrel on the left side, hard to make out.
-7-73-4?

The model name per the folks is 7R. Only reference to this gun or look like is the following which also doesnt have any model number except a number that starts with 7R...
http://www.armslist.com/posts/33929/cle ... fle-wscope
BSA (Made in England) 30-06 Rifle w/3-9 Variable Scope with see thru mounts, Mauser Action, I bought this used from a freind back in the early '80's, have not shot it yet, so I guess I never will. Serial # 7R1262xx, 24" Barrel Clean Bore, some scuffs on Monte Carlo Stock, Williams rear sight. There is no model number listed anywhere on this receiver/barrel that I can find, just above the serial number is says: MADE IN ENGLAND, on the underside of the barrel in front of the stock is says: KASSNAR IMPORTS HARRISBURG PA.
In top of the barrel in front of the Williams (rear) Sight, it says: B.S.A. GUNS LIMITED ENGLAND then there is, looks like two rifles crossing at the barrels and a straight sword going up the middle, then the letters: BSA
On the left side of the barrel: a british crest then: 30-06 2.494", just beneath that is: BNP 18 TONS PER, then there is a square insignia, then ", then two downward swords with, looks like 1 3 B, on the left side of the reciever below the front scope mount there is a british crest and then, BNP. That's all the markings I have found. Except the rubber butt plate, it says: BSA OF ENGLAND
I have never taken the barrel & receiver off the stock, so I don't know whats under there...?? Old soft case that I got with the rifle, no ammo, never shot it myself.
Price $ 325.00 FTF or + $ 25 for shipping, payment: Cash with a FTF or USPS MO if shipped. Not interested in trading, thanks for looking, let me know if you have any questions.

Re: BSA 3006
All the BSA bolts in that line have Mauser type magazines with hinged floor plate. Loaded from the top. The first model had the long external Mauser extractor, and safety on the bolt sleeve. Later models had different extractors, and a side safety. The last ones added a Sako-style guide rib on the right side, vs. the earlier Winchester M70-type integral guide lump. All were produced in several different action length. Herter's used to sell the actions under their own name. Early models had 16mm receiver dovetails for scope mounting. BSA came out with a darn nice rifle action, but then kept "improving" it, until finally it was nothing special.

Thanks for the reply and pointer to Herters Guns ..I researched and it had two models U9 BSA actiona and J9 mauser asction. Here is a U9 for sale

The action looks different then the one in my pictures. I am not sure whether this gun was imported form US or UK...

Re: BSA 3006
That one appears to be the second type, safety still on bolt sleeve, but extractor in bolt head.

It's a very good weapon my cousin owned one of BSA 30 like this one it's got majestic inscribed on the bolt action it's got a magazine and you need to load it from top think so it's 4 in magazine and 1 in chamber but it's a very accurate and nice weapon.
Just luv it
