Congrats on the new rifle.
Hearing damage is cumulative. Every shot you fire unprotected will add to it. It is also irreversible.
I always wear hearing protection at the range. In the winter, when we shoot indoors, I wear earplugs and muffs.

Have a favour to ask, can I have a pic of the TOP ( bridge ) of your 315 action, with a scale kept next to it? I am trying to figure out if a scope mount I have for the No3 SMLE is compatible eith the Indian 315.Would appreciate help
