Disassembly of the SGTW 57
Headed to the range yesterday, decided to shoot the STGW 57 so had to get is ready. Took a bunch of pictures on its disassembly.
One unhooks the sling for the muzzle end to begin with.
Then on the underside of the butt, there is small button to depress and twist the butt.
This then removes the butt with the recoil spring.
next is the removal of the trigger assembly with the integral hammer
the picture above was taken during reassembly. And you can see the take down pin fairly clearly. One depresses this and the trigger group comes out easily.
In order to remove the bolt you just pull the cocking handle to the rear and it slides out.
And the gun is disassembled as much as you need to for regular use.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

One needs to ensure there is a light coating of the Swiss army grease on the recoil springs, rollers etc. And then reassembly.
The order is Bolt, Cocking handle, Butt and trigger group.
Left to right: 8x60S, 7.5 Swiss, .22-250, 6 BR
And finally my puppy who was not amused..

As I said earlier, it is one superbly engineered and finished rifle and the quality shines through. A lot like the Bren in disassembly. Thanks for sharing these pics.

The gun wieghs a little over 6 Kg loaded.
Is accurate with the GP-11 ammo can stay withing the 8 ring at 100 meters. Thanks to the roller delayed blowback the recoil is neglegible.

That's really a masterpiece of engineering.Congrats.
