Nice working rifle. Some apparently have issues that need to be sorted out later.Saw one brought in on TR in 30-06 and sold after the demise of its owner who had apparently never fired it(do not know what model it was).Had a plainer stock than yours.Nothing to swoon about though. But this being India the price paid would have got you a very nice rifle in USA.

CZ indeed in a class of it's own. Really like their hand guns and rifle.

Still very high on my must buy list Herb! cant really justify it with a 404 also planned, but the CZ is good stuff and the 416 is classic...
why me?

Thanks guys, thought some of you would enjoy the pictures.

The CZ 550 Mag is a large action well suited for large cases like the .416 & .505. I prefer the CRF Winchester M70 action for anything up to .375 H&H length. I will post pictures of my Winchester safari express in .375 H&H when I have the time.

,404 is another very desirable caliber. Many government departments in Africa used the .404 for animal control and must have accounted for a large number of the big 5. I bid unsuccessfully for one at a UK auction last year.

What is the action that you are planning to build the .404 on. It can be safely build on the standard Mauser 98 action. The CZ 550 Mag action will make the .404 unnecessarily heavy although a a little added weight is good on any .375+ caliber rifle.

I Got a 9.3x62 in CZ550-medium heavy part of my battery
Gunny offered to pop the 404 LW barrel on that, but I was looking at a 458 or some such. I am looking at a Zastava heavy magnum action for the 404 build, hopefully.

Congrats herb.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.
