Re: longest effective range rifle in the world
I recently heard of somone plinking with the AI 50 BMG, where they had a case split on firing. And only noticed it after the shooting session was over. The AI's are really well made, with all the bugs sorted out. Too bad they are so expensive.

That is quite possible.checked out the paper work, and i feel that its only their opinon and saleman ship.
Can't deny that at all.where as the Barrett .50 and the AI meet the requirement and is proven in the field.
I just put up the link because it was relevant to the topic.
I am not personally familiar (or in a position to get familiar with) with CheyTac so have no opinion on them.

xl_target: Shooting a .50 BMG or a .338 LPM isnt really comofrtable. Without a good muzzle brake or a suppressor I wouldnt even attempt the former, and the latter without a MB or Suppressor will make you reconsider shooting.
LR shooting for most civie purposes is best achieved with smaller calibers.
Yes people do shoot rifles chambered for the .20mm vulcan, but for any application that requires one of those, I would side with Nagarifle and opt for a 105.
