Vikram: Though he at some incidents did shot not just two but three together in the air, im not sure if that happened during these two incidents.Vikram wrote:Guys, I am not doubting your words. But, I am just trying to figure out how this could have been accomplished unless he shot a bunch of them with two shots or something similar.Any explanation of how this remarkable feat was accomplished by anyone? Thanks.shooter wrote:Lord Ripon, regarded as the most famous shot of all time, apparently shot twenty-eight pheasants in a minute and was reported to have had seven dead birds in the air at the same time(He was bit of a self promoter).
Thats cool! i have just written a post about him in another thread (including this fact)

The reason Lord thomas de grey's feat is mentioned is because it was witnessed by many including his closest competitor and maybe equal Lord Thomas de grey (not a typo, they both had the same name).
Vikram the requirements for these feats are as follows:
High no. of birds in the air
High speed of shooting
Good aim.
The former and the latter need no explanation. If 8-10 drives (4 hours actual shooting) can yeild 3000 phesants then assume at least 12-14000 in tha air for 4 hours which means 3000 in the air in an hour or 50 birds in the air in a minute.
The aim: well as i wrote in my other thread, these men were GOOD and committed. No one came close to them.
Just to give you an idea, Lord de grey (Walsingham, not Ripon), was once shooting and his cartridge exploded and his face and hair burnt. He kept shooting with two guns instead of three. At the end when people asked him if he was all right, he found out he had sustained burns and lost his hair, eyebrow and some skin. Though this doesnt show his shooting prowess, it definitely shows his commitment and concentration which you know is half the game.
Before i go furthur, please see this video:

See from 00:08 to 00:17, 4 shots fired in 9 seconds; this equates to 26.5 shots in a minute. And this is a random video in the first 5 results in todays time. And they arent even fast.
Imagine with 3 loaders, three guns and these loaders are just that: loaders. Practicing for hours everyday just reloading. One can easily achieve 28-30 shots a minute. And when lord de grey fires 30 shots, its not surprising 28 phesants shot.
Now 7 in the air dead at the same time:
Well this too requires FAST shooting and reloading. The descriptions of old times say with him the loaders motions became a blur.If bob munden can litrally move faster than a human eye, if the Israeli commando can move faster than a human eye, then i suppose this too can be gone. After all, these gentlemen got more practice than either. This is all what they did, shoot every single day thousands of shots a week.
Again this feat has been witnessed.
Once both Lords de greys were shooting next to each other when a covey of 8 partridges flew overhead on seeing these guns , it split into two flights of 4. (remember ques of 4 not a bunch).
Both shooters got both coveys. Now if they had go them with a single shot or even two shots, it woulldnt be as impressive but they both got both coveys with 4 shots each and that too in numerical order. 1st partridge with the first shot etc etc. Now that is impressive shooting.
What is difficult is to have 7 birds in the air within the same 3 seconds for him to shoot them. With thousands of shoots he attended, the odds caught up with him and one day he did. Phesants fly much higher than the partridge so its possible to get 7 shots in 3-4 seconds.
Also maybe the first bird died after 2-3 seconds which they often do this would have given him 6 seconds to fire 7 shots. Many others might do it with good loaders but he connected thats why he is a legend.
Again a request, if ifg members want, they can sponsor me with unlimited shooting and then we can check for sure if it can be done.
