I just read about this new hunting revolver from Smith and Wesson in .460..I have never fired such 'big calibre' handguns but after looking at taht .60 cal clip it must need some wrist power and grip to handle these cannons. Another fair warning was Vikram's clip how escaping gas nearly took out chunk of shooters thumb - proper grips inmportance..Check it and do post any experience using such guns
I am not fond of large caliber handguns.
I havent shot the .460, but have extensive experience with .50 AE and .44 MAG.
Trying to prevent the weapon moving due to recoil, is pretty much futile. You just have to learn to control it, let the gun move and reacquire sight picture rapidly.

My experience with my 44 mag (a Ruger Super Blackhawk, 7.5" barrel) is that you have to let the grip of the pistol roll back in the palm of your hand a bit as a part of the recoil. Also, the majority of .460, .480, and .500 revolvers that I've seen have ported barrels (as does my super blackhawk) which makes recoil much more managable. As for rapid re-acquisition of sight picture, I don't usually rapid-fire my single action big bore revolver, it's more for long distance shooting and hitting rotten produce. I think the 50AE is a ridiculous cartridge. In my opinion, the .45 ACP is the best defensive handgun cartridge as far as reliable stopping power and management of recoil.
