Help to identify the genuineness of S&W .32 revolver (Pics)

Post by ravi.sharma » Thu Aug 06, 2009 7:37 pm

Hi All,

I have seen a S&W .32 Cal revolver, probably manufactured in 80's. I fired a couple of rounds and its dam smooth. the Finish is fantastic and its a small (Pocket Size). The only problem is the genuineness of the revolver, as I have seen some threads in which the fellow members have been cheated with Local made Husqvarna, Berretta etc...

Hence, i need advice from the experts to determine, whether i shall purchase it or not. I have posted the Pics below, which clearly shows the Sr. nos. & the trademark, the packet in which the Sr.no. of revolver is mentioned.

Any help shall be highly appreciated.

Ravi.

Ravi from the pics it looks original, however if you still have a doubt then send a mail to S&W along with the info on the box to confirm the same.
Else if it is direct purchase from the seller and he is the original and only owner then the year he imported it would be endorsed on his Lic along with the dealer he bought it from...
What is the asking price...

Hi Sanjay,

Thanks for your reply, it belongs a single owner, though i haven't seen the liecence but am sure of. The asking price is of Rs. 2.0L, what say, is it a good Deal :?: and again is it better to go with IOF .32 or the one posted above :?:

Once again thanks for your valuable reply.

The finish and quality are hard to replicate on the country forgeries,at least I like to think.Even the engraving of the emblem. Nevertheless, it is good to be cautious. 2L,as the others say, is a steal.

That is a S&W, no doubt about it. Classic, classic lines! Jump on it.

Model 31's are relatively desirable and are not that easy to find, even in the condition that your photos show. Please keep it well oiled so you don't lose any more of that beautiful S&W blue.
After seeing your photos, even I want one now, even though it's in .32 cal

The serial number that you showed is incorrect. It is the frame serial number. The correct serial number is on the butt of the gun. S&W serial numbered frames before they were made into complete guns. It's possible that the frame sat around for a while, maybe years before it was made into a complete gun. If you're really picky and want to know all the details, S&W's historian can give you a "birth certificate" for your revolver: http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/w...ectionId=1050

Its hard to guess the condition of the revolver from the picture, but seems like the bluing is factory original and YES its an original S&W revolver. 2L for this is a dirt cheap price for me provided the revolver is in good condition. if you plan to purchase this one go for it ASAP before the owner change his mind.

Saptarshi

Looks like the link for the S&W history request was bad. Please try this one instead.

Saptarshi: The owner seems to be in dilemma now, he has got some 2 or 3 offers and is taking his time to close the deal. Hope so, i would be able to grab it.

Shariq: It is very difficult to find quality and genuine Arms, I have been searching for a long time and fortunately was able to find the above one. Let me see, if would be able to crack this deal or not. Meanwhile, if i get any information on .22 S&W, will let you know immediately.

Guys, one more question, what about ammo :?: is it available in India or can i use the IOF ammo with it :?: I have attached the pic below of the current ammo used by the owner.

Ravi,
Looks like 2 L was too good to be true...if it is in good nick...then consider 3.75 L a good price...that is the price a dealer would most likely pick it up at....keep us posted...best

Hi Sanjay,

It seems that, he might stick to the same price. The only problem is i am travelling and wont be able to close it till next weekend, even if he agrees by next week. Thats the only concern. Meanwhile do you any idea about the AMMO :?: Can IOF ammo be used with it :?:
