What is diffrent between a semi pistol

What is different between a semi auto matic & automatic pistol.
Semiautomatic firearms (handguns, rifles etc) fire only one round per each squeeze of the trigger. An full automatic firearm will fire all rounds in a magazine if the trigger is squeezed and held back.
However a lot of folks will interchange the term semi automatic with automatic
