Lot of guys in forum had owned IOF pistol in past and many are using it efficently , many bad experiences and lot of quality inconsistency issues .
Was the earlier iof model were better or the present quality is better , one dealer told me that 2001 was the best year, as 2001 produced are really reliable , i am confident that this dealer has 2001 model for sale anyway what tough guys think about this or what can be inferred from their practical experience , feedback is requested. I
just got my Ashani last month, and I have fired 25 cartridges upto now - without a single malfunction.
The only problem is that the sights are so small, you can't even see them while you're trying to aim.
But i'm told that it is a pistol meant for defense and when using it in the situation (god forbid) I won't miss the sights.
As far as the looks are concerned this one is not very good looking as compared to the imported ones, but as it is meant to be carried concealed and not to be flashed around i don't mind.
Maybe I'll change the grip, but I'm not going to get it blued- not at least till it's in the warranty period.
The real thing (what I feel) is that u have to be careful about the ammo that you use.
If you're using Indian ammo
Either( at the time of buying) try to load the cartridges in the mag and see if u can strip the off easily and change any that don't.
OR have a fine diamond file to smoothen the ridge above the rim so that they don't get stuck while feeding.
I don't have much experience, but my pistol does go bang when I pull the trigger and I'm happy to have it.

BTW James how much did you shell out for the works done on your pistol?
I saw a IOF .32 today done up in my city - bleuing + ventilated rib + grips = 15K
That is a lot of money in my openion

it is the defective shells which cause a jam in the pistol, pistol perse are the cause of jam in very few cases.
recently i was seeing a programme on the Discovery dhannels about the life of a QRT officer in NYPD hand they select shells for their pistols by using the roll over test
the shell is rolled over a flat surface of a table if the rolling is smooth and in a straight line the shell is selected for the pistol if other wise it is discarded.

hi parag
i think all modifications are not needed as IOF improved the mags and barrel locks compared to the old stuff.my opinion is to get the gun blued after the lapse of warranty period and shoot often which will expose any problems in the gun or mags,if it is faulty one
cheers
