Hi Guys

I fired a 44 Magnum smith and wesson revolver today.Man was it something.Reminded me of Clint Eastwood.

Your views on the calibre please gentleman.

Excellent hunting cartridge for deer sized game, I shot a 44 mag in my friends Ruger Vaquero Single action, he uses it when we are out deer hunting. Man, it is awesome to say the least. My friend has taken lots of game with that, two in front of my eyes.

S&W makes a 44 mag revolver in Scandium, I held it once at a shop, don't want to shoot one through it. Some day, I want a S&W 29 like the one Dirty Harry did.

congrats on getting a chance to fire a 44mag in india as said earlier,it reminds of clint eastwood.i have shot many rounds from friends guns.no doubt an awesome caliber by the way,is 44mag easily available in india??

I haven't shot The 44 Mag as much as I have shot 357 magnum built on the same "N"frame S&W. In fact this particular revolver is a collectors' delight as it was almost hand made in 1937 and happens to be what they call "Registered Magnum". This one belongs to a close fiend and still is in original pristine condition. Here's the pic

This looks very much like a custom made grip. Please correct me if I am wrong..

You are dot on. It is a custom fitted grip made by Bowlers to suit the owner's hand. The original grips gave quite a wallop to the web between the thumb and index finger with full house loads..

Like I said earlier, this one is known as a Registered Magnum built on "N" frame that preceded model 27 and Model "Highway Petrolman". These were the first batch of revolvers after the introduction of the caliber 357 Magnum. and were made to order between 1935 and 1939 during the peak of Depression in the U.S. They cost around $65/ which was considered pretty steep as compared to other top of the line pistol/revolvers that sold for less then half that price then. These revolvers also had a four digit registration number emborsed under the swing out crane besides the serial no.. The original owner of this revolver was given a certificate with this registration number printed on it. Hence The Registered Magnum.

BTW, the Dirty Harry 44 Magnum was also built on "N" frame by Smith and Wesson. Hence the similarity but the one I am talking about is far more superior in workmanship compared to a Model 29. You will notice the forged and case hardened hammer and trigger if you observe carefully. Sorry, I forgot to mention that while answering, Dev.
