Hi,
My friend got a new handgun license. As he was interested in buying
revolver we came across some webley revolvers but many people
advised us not to go for it as it is very difficult to single out the
genuine one. We were told that only few experts can recognize the
real one. My question is how to identify the genuine webley scott
revolver?
Firearm

If it's just self defense, casual plinking then advise him to pick up an IOF revolver and be done with it,they are value for money given that these are difficult times.Whats happening currently is just the tip of the iceberg, which gets me thinking whether we will see a downward trend in the price of fire arms in India

yes but has any one got any pics info to say which is fake, because that is what is needed by firearm.
we all are aware that very many arms are fake but something to show which is fake or what to look out for will be most helpful.

One way of finding if its real or fake is to check if it has any proof markings.........................also if you have seen a real Webley then you can easily make out the difference

There are two ways...
1. Drop it from atleast the second floor six times.. and if nothing happens, its worth buying!
2. Ask the dealer for a fake first... then ask for the original and compare the two
.. just kidding.
One needs to know more than finding markings, but to also identify them, check with the year of issue, the serial numbers that should correspond to the make year, and the overall finish.
Webley surely does have a nice finish, and replicating the exact finish would be more than tough. Although some may still be confusing, this is your first step. Also, tag along someone who knows guns, to help you in verifying the correct choice. It would be even better to goto 'known devils' thru a lobby that you can trust.
