Imported guns sold by Embassy People

Hi Guys

Pl help me on this matter. One arms dealer told me that he could procure a brand new gun
from embassy people as they could sell these weapons after stay of certain years. This dealer
has to go thro official procedure and can get the weapon from a board with which tha weapon
is ti be kept. i have to pay full advance to buy this gun from the dealer. The price I will pay
will be according to the market price. Do not know about the price he is getting it.
Shall I go for it?

The statement he stated is right, they are allowed to buy from auctions from the concerned department. You have to see the authenticity of the dealer, some are good (they do what they say) & some are not so good. So let us (me) know from whom are you dealing and what are the conditions so that we can help you here.

Don't know about the guns from embassy so can’t comment on that but regarding making full payment in advance. There is one scam going on in Haryana and Punjab by travel agents. They promise visas to prospective clients and take full money in advance and keep extending the waiting period. All the time enjoying interest on the sum paid. Then one fine day after earning 8-10% they return the money to client saying sorry. So my suggestion is do not pay him any money in advance, tell him you will pay the asking price after looking at the piece and if he really manages to procure a new one then you can decide after looking at it.

there is an old saying " a sucker is born every minute"

as far as i know, even Diplomats etc who want to bring there own firearms in to India, may be under the same condition as a tourist or under the TR rule.

The arms act does not make any special rules for Diplomats, unlike sale of household goods; any firearms brought in would be under the same condition, not for sale during life time/ have to be taken back with them.

one more thing to think about if the dealer wants full payment in advance, what guarantee do you have that he will get the gun from a Diplomat? and what is the name of this board where Diplomats can sell there guns?

No diplomat, who is not an Indian citizen can sell or dispose off his fire arm within an Indian Union. Even if he intends to gift it to a fallow Indian diplomat, he cannot do so unless it's a symbolic gesture on behalf of his country. This too involves a lot of paper work unless I guess the receiver happens to be The President or the Prime minister of India.. Of course the ammo may leak out of the embassy once in a while as a personal favor. Your better bet is to procure the fire arm from some renowned shooter who also knows how to sell his fire arm. Usual modus operandi is to declare that the particular fire arm is not performing to his satisfaction and hence is of no use to him. A lot of new fire arms especially pistols and revolvers have found their ways into the hands of rich politicians this way.

Well, quite typically for the babudom when the going gets a wee bit tougher (Like trying to think)... the simply ban it.

Incidentally, they are the ones who often abuse the facilities available that provoke the ban. The common man is again the loser.

My uncle bought a Range Rover Discovery about 8 years back from the English Embassy...don know 'bout firearms. Might be possible after greasing a few palms here n there...LOL...But stil if something is illegimate will be caught someday or the other...

Ahh, I beg to differ with you on this point.Thats not how the real world works.Everything goes.I have seen it myself.
