Does anybody at IFG own a 9 mm Pistol.
Hi to every one.
I just want to know that Do anybody in IFG family owns a 9 mm pistol.
Isn't it possible to own a 9mm in India.
I think 9mm is the most suitable handgun for selfdefense.
9mm is not legally available but 32 bore pistol is legally available.
What is the difference between a 9mm Pistol and a 32. bore pistol.
Looking for your reply guys.
Thank you very much.

I have one. But am not in India.
It certainly isnt 'the best' hand gun caliber. But has enough stopping power, with the right ammo, and ammo is cheap.
The difference between a 9mm and a .32 is the caliber at an abstract level. Different case sizes, powder capacity, velocities, and bullet wieghts... hence different ballistics. Though either could in theory be loaded to mimic simillar ballistics...

I'd like to say I carry this to work every day.. But I really dont! As a matter of fact I am too chicken to carry it where I need it most! I am doing some development work in an area close to the border in Mizoram that is teeming with all sorts of rebels from across the border and they carry Ak's, G3's, Uzi's, M-16's and grenade launchers! to name a few that I can recognise.
Wonder if any other member has had to face such a paradoxical situation?? i.e. The very tool that you want to rely on to make you safe could turnout to be a tool that makes you a target and unsafe?? I think a nice smile and a prayer are a much better protection in 'real life' situations..

All cals are equally ineffective if not used properly. A nicely placed shot of .22 LR is better than poorly placed shot of .40 cal. I know a man who survived 3 shots of AK 47 in his abdomen and is still on active duty of Indian Army. The most important thing in Self Defense situation is shot placement, tactical planning and keeping one’s cool in stress situation. 9 mm is widely used handgun not only because of its cal. but because of various other factors including size of weapon, manageable recoil, availability/cost of ammunitions and a decent ballistics. Of course it is decent cal for SD but not the best.amit_sharma86 wrote:Hi to every one.

.50 is not a PB.You do not need to have high contacts to have a PB license.I know of a vegetable vendor who has a license for a PB .38 revolver issued to him when an SDM could make one.
From 9mm I assume that you mean a 9mm para/luger.As long as you have a valid license for a firearm, you can own it.It can be automatic or a semi-automatic of any caliber.

PP,
Firstly, you do need contacts to get hold of a PB license and secondly, you cannot endorse a PB calibre on a NPB handgun license. Moreover, automatic firearms are a strict no no in India for civilians.

May be this chappie got sick and tired of hurling onions and potatoes at his rival vendors so he decided to get a PB firearm !!
RP.
It's always better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it !

I have seen a licensed Thomson Sub-machine gun.The license was issued by the MOH,GOI.HydNawab wrote:PP,

At one time,an SDM could issue a license for a PB firearm. The vegetable vendors license is kosher.
