Of course they are! You pay several lacs for a $200 to $300 second hand revolver, I'd say that's overpriced! :P

The link above is for an auction house dealing in rare guns... not run of the mill Colts, S&W's etc.

The Walker is quite the hand gun. There were only a few hundred ever made and to find one in an unfired condition is a rare event.

Interestingly the .44 Walker was with a full load the most powerful handgun in the world until the advent of the .357 Magnum.

I have an Uberti copy, which I like to load up with about 42 grains of ffg and 'try' to hit the target at 100 meters.
Like is the case with all reproduction bp weapons ... accuracy is a hit or miss kind of thing. Good fun to shoot though...

Yesterday I was in Aligarh for a day a dealer has a brand new .22 Rev. made by Ruger.

INR 2,75,000.00 costs not more than $$1000. in the US

A high standards pistol .22 is for less than $700.00 in the US. We has a post here for 2.5

The same Walker revolver would not fetch Rs.25000/ in India. Reason?? Lac of availability of ammunition. What do you say to that?

Apples vs. oranges, fellows. The Colt is an extremely rare collectors item, to be kept in a safe, and never shot. No lead or blackpowder available in India? What category do non-cartridge revolvers fall in? For home protection they should serve just fine.

Actually it doesnt use 'ammo' in the conventional sense.

You pour the Blackpowder directly into the cylinder, put in a lube pill (crisco+paraffin+beeswax) and seat a .454 or .457 ball then a precussion cap and off you go.
