Indians For Guns

Some of my old friends were together today in my farm house and as good opportunity to shoot /practice . I had my IOF ventelated rib pistol, we had MAUSER hsc , Llama , WALTHER PPK and IOF revolver all in .32 bore . Just for getting feel and comfort of shooting ,i shot all of them and just sharing experience.
Walther ppk was the first and worst as after sixth shot my webs ,area beside thum was bleeding , I switched over to Mauser hsc and first shot made it worse ,as the slide movement is actually same and i stopped shooting as i had to call for first aid kit .
AFTER a hour i laid my hands on Llama ,minature 1911, web cuttting problem was not there but being light weight pistol was shaky ,only appearence seems to be attractive , IOF was the last and no problem of web cutting and due to increased weight of ventilated ribs ,pistol was really stable with good sight .
This does not means that any of the above pistols are bad ,just my preferance and practical experience ,SOME times it is by fancy people assumed that all foreign make pistols are very good , no doubt CZ83 OR BRWNING BDA OR BERETTA 84 are one of the best .32 pistol ever made but just fire before spending that type of money .Cheers JAMES...

Goodness James... how on earth were you holding your guns?

Which hand was hurt? If its the left one, you probably were wrapping your left thumb over the right one... something thats ok for revolvers but not exactly a nice idea for self loaders. Its a common error.

I can't think of another way that firing any pistol would cause injury... certainly not something like a PPK...no matter what most people think of it... not even the IOF pieces...

HI, CC , All the pistols were shot with single hand ,left hand was not involved, I HAD walther ppk as my personal pistol before [good staus symbol but really not good for big frame people with bigger palm like me ] and due to this web eating habit i shifted to S&W .32 2 ince barrel Revolver as my personal weapon . MY ventelated IOF is carried by my guard. From past 10 years i had been firing / practising so griping or shooting is just a scheduled activity , pistols like walther pp ,ppk and mauser hsc has this problem ,when slides move backs it rubs the inner web of palm. MY two fingers covers the full grip of ppk ,this is just a personal option what fits you comfortable. I would love to have another 2 inche extension on my IOF Pistol grip ,another 4 additional rounds , that will cover all the four fingers , anyway IOF never had this rubbing/biting problem . .....JAMES

Walther PPK is sexy, but it is never a very good shooting pistol.

All the glamour and James Bond's weapon hype goes with it to grant it cult status.

Really good shooting automatics ( in that order ) are.

Brno or CZ 75
Colt Govt. 1911
Walther P 88
Beretta 92

I find the Glock 17 missing a mention here... I found it very comfortable and accurate. Sanjay's Beretta is another beauty to shoot.

From what you describe, your hands must be as big as baseball mittens.... which I would thus assume are much bigger than average

THANKS CC you rightly said above AVERAGE , the benifit is that people generally dont feel comfortable shaking hands BUT handsome bunch of women frequently call for support , jokes apart ,you know the good news is ,GUNACCESSORIES.COM had introduced walther type magazine release system for IOF PISTOL ,saw that in there website today. well olly the Glock 17 is not .32 so....

That is correct... it was 9mm. Anyways it still doesn't dampen the plusses !

I feel James has very big hands or does not know to hold a pistol this problem arises with the baby brno or the bernardelli .22 short & long but almost never with a .32 cal. because it has a larger body frame.

HI, b.baracho , Walther bite is most common problem faced by people frequently using walther ppk pistol and this fact is quit common , there are more than thousand examples of walther bite reveled or expressed in various pistol forum worldwide and i hope that these guys knows how to hold pistol. cheers James....

With due apologies to some members who are dealers,I would like to say that the dealers also play a role in propagating this myth about all IOF stuff being junk.If you look around you can find rifles/pistols/revolvers made by IOF that are put together pretty well and function reliably,though they may not look nice.However they are better than a lot of 80-90 year old junk that sells for a a couple of lakhs.

Buy an IOF revolver/pistol and you will shoot it a lot more than the .32 S&W NIB revolver or Walther PPK that you bought for 3.5/7-8 lakhs and which you are now babying as using it would put a couple of scratches on it or rub off the bluing, reducing the value.
