Hello guys, On a recent visit to my gunsmith friends workshop I came across a peculiar piece that I have always longed to own.. The gunsmith had been asked to replace a broken wooden grip and remove a "Made in Khalistan" stamp on the magazine slot. I entered the shop as he was about to re-assemble the weapon. Seeing me, he immediately challenged me to re-assemble it with a reward of testfiring an entire clip if I was to succeed!

10 minutes into the challenge and I was beginning to wonder at how in blue blazes could a handgun have so many parts! And yet be one of the most reliable semi-autos the Germans had ever devised during the turn of the century! To make the 35 minute story short, After managing to assemble the hammer assembly (It's an entire assembly in itself, I dont remember the number of parts) it was easy sailing. A little bit of trouble with a slide locking thingy which had to fit to the bottom of the hammer assembly and was tensioned with a spring within the hammer assembly and then abracadabra!!

Unfortunately as it turned out, the bug*3r only had four rounds at his disposal which I had to reluctantly accept for the longest half an hour of my life!

This is not a Broomhandle hence not German cause that uses a charger for loading from top.
Could this be the Astra,which has a bottom feed and is full auto.know a bloke who has one.
The Astra variant comes with a high cap mag AFAIK 15 or 20 rounds.

I forgot to mention besides the roughly hammered "Made in Khalistan" markings It had the characteristic original "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF A.NECKAR" Emblazoned on the RHS..

I have correctly identified it as the Model 712 Schnellfeuer. It has a detachable magazine and a switch to allow single shot or full auto firing and is in 7.63x25 caliber.

I saw one eons ago wasnt sure whether it was original or Dara made...MP quota must have escaped clutches of the police wallahs. So how does the fella haul this ..

Probably a Dara made copy.BTW,a full auto firearm is a Prohibited firearm.No if's and but's about it.

Sanjay there was a full automatic version of the Mauser C96. probably model 711 or 712.
Sidhu bhai i dont think it is darra made, there are some copies made by Chinese which are a lot better than darra made. although a large number of C 96 were available along with lugers there a year back or so. most of them have very worn out bores and pitted chambers. many of them got local made barrels and some got russian barrels from moisan naganat and even old draganov rifles as these rifles were not sold on a license of NPB rifle and there barrels are uses as spares, some have steel liner or sleeve in their chamber. a good example of C96 with original wooden stock+holster combo will go between 30 k to 35 k and model 712 between 40 to 45 k.

pardon my ignorance but is the action on this the same as any pistol. And is that the hammer that is visible at the very back (with the hole in it?).

Sniper it's similar in a way by way of it qualifying as a locked breech blowback action but thats where the similarity ends. Most modern pistols have their locked breech by way of a floating/hinged barrel which has serrations at the base of the barrel and the blowback action unlocks the slide and bolt. Whereas on the Mauser its way different. The breech lock (if you can call it that is located under the bolt which unlocks itself by the blowback action and slides within the frame) The mauser is actually much more like the AK-47 and its clones in terms of working principle. The bolt moves back and cocks the hammer and on its return feeds the chamber.

Fair warning-DO NOT TRY the tok 7.62 ammo in this...there may be a slight 'tightness' in feeding-the bolt will not go into battery once its cocked and released on a full mag, thump with heel of hand and it will go in with a burp, but the higher pressures of the 7.62 bottleneck pistol round made for the Tokarev (and the dimension differences!) may/will cause a problem!!
With the markings described, it may be the original , Jonah.
I have only read of the detachable mag versions-all the ones I've seen had the original furniture and a sealed, charger fed mag AND semiauto ONLY.

No luck with them fish here Asif.. Maybe I havent tried enough! Somehow most of my fishing trips end up in a session with them big guns I allus talk about.
