TT Chinese or Russian

Post by firearm » Fri Feb 08, 2008 8:06 am

Hi guys,

I had on 7.62 Chinese pistol....I sold it for a Russian one as I was told Russian TT is better than that of Chinese. I came across an article I am giving it here... pl enlighten me. I am still looking 4 Russian TT any clues whether any dealer has it.......... Firearm

TT Rusian or Chinese
This is a field test of the Russian Tokarev pistol vs the Chinese Tokarev. Please note that the Chinese Tokarev is the Chinese military version, and NOT the new manufacture ones that are currently out. The new Chinese ones usually have a rib that runs on top of the slide from front to rear sight, and they are stamped as manufactured by Norinco. . ...Moderator: In future post a hyper link to the original web page, and don't post the entire article because of copy right issues... unless of course, you are absolutely certain that the material is free of copyright restrictions

There are copy right issues with posting an entire article, in future just post a link to the article with reference, one can include snippets from an article. I am going to seek clarification from the Moderators regarding this issue.

No major differences between the two other than manufacturing expedients. You did wrong by selling your Chinese M20.... even if you'd gotten hold of a Russian TT, the differences would have been too minor to make it worth while. Who ever gave you the advice was talking out of his behind.

Russian TT's went out of manufacture in the early 50's and frontline use straggled on till the early 60's. As such, they are not terribly common nowadays even if they were manufactured in mammoth quantities- that would mean any Russian TT would be pretty old by now. Further more, I'd say more than 98% of TTs in India are Chinese M20's- the chances of coming across a Russian one would be very slim.

Most legal M20's in the Indian market are formerly property of criminals and militants- seized and allotted to officers, babus, and netas for a few hundreds or thousand bucks ....and sold for an enormous profit to dealers who further sell it for an enormous profit and so on.....
