Well... it's nice if we're all sheathing our swords.
Hope its stays that way.
There are none that are available in India.
9mm is prohibited bore.
S&W used to make a 9mm revolver back in the early 80's. Likely it'll not be available in country anytime.

CC - sorry if I sound pedantic, but ONLY 9mm Luger/ 9mm Parabellum is PB. Other 9mm calibres are very much NPB, for e.g. 9mm Kurz (short)...
Cheers!

Well, ya, thats very true. Just put it up since he wasn't specific.
Didn't want to spend time explaining all that on basis of a vague question

From what you said, if I gather correctly, an NPB license would include 9mm cal revolver?

9mm cal is most common with pistol, but as Abijit said revolver too can be had in 9mm. If this is true then ammo for such revolver can be a problem. Could one use 9mm pistol bullets in 9mm revolvers? Also, havent got any clear view about 9mm revolver being NPB?

You can get a revolver in 9mm.But which 9mm cartridge are you talking about?Do you even know what you are talking about Mr. Jha?

In short, to make it more lethal can one go for 9mm revolver? What are the roadblocks one would have to face in indian context?

9 mm Japanese
.38 Short Colt
.38 Long Colt
.38 S&W Special
.357 S&W Magnum
.357 Rem Max
These are all 9mm revolver cartridges (list taken from Wikipedia)... which one are you talking about? NONE of them will fire the 9mm pistol service round (9x19mm mm para/ luger), if that's what you are talking about - if they could they would be classified as PB!!
There are also 9mm revolvers in .38 S&W and .38/200 (.380 Revolver), BUT these would be PB as they can fire the Indian .38 rimmed revolver service round (which is .38/200).
Anyhow, whether or not 9mm revolvers are available is irrelevant to this thread! Please DO NOT hijack threads in this manner. I am splitting this topic into a separate thread...
Cheers!

To answer your question about NPB+power+availability of cartridges, the .357 Magnum would the most powerful 9mm NPB revolver cartridge for which ammunition is available in India. The ammo would be expensive though, as it is all imported and would NOT be available with ALL dealers.
BUT Yes it is NPB, Yes it is POWERFUL and Yes the ammo is AVAILABLE...
HTH
Cheers!

I got most of my queries regarding 9mm revolver clarified. Thanks a lot for that.
Please let me know general market price at which amm is available in india. Also if 'ammo is expensive-gun cheaper theory applies' then what is the price at which 9mm revolver is available? Lastly perhaps, could 9mm revolver be viable from your experience?

Vjha, please don't keep referring to it as a "9mm revolver" as you can see from the above list, that nomenclature would include several very DIFFERENT cartridges and is needlessly confusing to the reader!
I am not a dealer and have absolutely NO clue as to what the price for a .357 magnum should/ would be.
What do you mean by viable
Cheers!
Abhijeet
P.S. - IIRC HydNawab here & penpusher both have owned .357 revolvers in the past and they should be able to guide you as to expected prices for the ammo... but ask nicely, no one is under any obligation to assist you...

By viable what I mean is once purchased, is it going to be useful in terms of availabilty of ammo(difficulty--no problem, should not be impossible after few years).
Of course you are not a dealer, what about the theory normally true?

Well, penpusher jee, please throw some light on the issue of .357 revolvers, especially with my queries in mind.

If you're playing the sarcasm game, you really couldn't have picked a worse target... This is going to be fun to watch...
