I am also in the market to buy one and am being lured by the MSD Falcon in .30 Calibre. What do you, my friends think ?

I would suggest you to go for .45 Champion or Commander. In .45 , you get option to carry cocked and locked, fits better in hand (falcon has thin and unegonormic grip angle) and 45 dont over penetrate like 7.62x25.

Only plus point I find in Falcon is that 7.62x25 has little less recoil than .45

Thanks for the suggestion, Vineet ji.
However the recoil is a major point for me as I am 65 years old and will not be able to handle it that of a .45
Also I understand the Falcon is made fully of steel therefore would be able to take more abuse than the Taurus or other aluminium /alloy pistols.
I hope you agree

I apologise in advance for jumping between conversation directed to someone else , but what possible abuse are you taking in consideration with very limited ammo quantities, absurdly high ammo price , no proper range to practice.. i mean we will never be able to hit the top potential of a firearm in india by running 10k rounds in one year through its barrel ( unless someone is renowned shooter ) for the general public i feel fit finish relaibility is at par in most of big brands . Metallurgy is just confined to personal feel good factor more like cosmetic thing if it not challenged at range.
Go for something that will put a smile on your face each time you holster it on you ☺️

Yes steel is more durable than alloy but alloy frame pistols must be having some advantage over steel that is why alloy guns exists. That advantage is light weight. It makes a lots of difference at the end of the day when you are carrying.

Dear Tarun,

Completely agree with you regarding how much use do we actually subject our weapons to. I was talking about the age the weapon may have. I sincerely hope I never have to use it so much that it becomes an abuse :D
I am happy that I see those days in India that we have multiple choices now, a couple of years back we barely had any.
I appreciate your views, thank you....

Dear Vineet ji,

At my age , I am blessed to have no issues as regards finance, provided I get what I desire. I recently bought a beautiful Walther PPK by selling my IOF Pistol and now I would like to upgrade my IOF Revolver. Will definitely keep your suggestions in mind when I make up my final mind.
Thank you again

I have Falcon, on my valid License, I have fired a lot so far, it's a very good pistol. vineet ji is right go for .45 if you handle. otherwise .32 is best. in .32 bore JD Taurus PT57 is excellent pistol.
