Hey friends please help me to buy a revolver. I have an offer of mark 3 2008 model second hand price Rs.50k . Should i go for it or buy new one. Please guide me as soon as possible.

Please help us keep the boards orderly and start a new thread, rather than hijacking an existing one! A revolver has nothing to do with Glocks. thank you, the moderator team.

In my opinion, 50k for a 2008 model is not a viable option. You can search for more gun houses in your state, for 50k you can get a decent weapon which is around 3-4 years old rather than spending 50k on a 15 year old wepaon.

50 k is a bargain for any revolver in India provided it functions properly or else you will have to spend some money to get it right.

I am also in search for a revolver/pistol under 75K. I have an offer for IOF MK1 revolver of 1996 in mint condition for 50K. I have delisted mark III and mark IV due to hard trigger pull. Is it worth or i should search for Rfi pistol? Which is safe and reliable? Please suggest.

IOF Revolvers are very loud and have very hard trigger pull, I have had multiple instances where it badly hurt my ear due to the sound, In combat situations you won't be ready with earplugs, I am SURE.

Old mark 1, 2 and new Nishank model have soft trigger as they have leaf spring instead of coil spring.

Self defence may happen once in a life time and adrenal rush will be so heavy at that time that you won’t note the loudness.

If it’s your first weapon then go for revolver as it’s operation is simple. RFI is good pistol but go for pistol only if you have good knowledge about weapons.

True, For first timers revolver is quite easy as you're certain you don't have a ready to fire firearm, whereas in the case of a pistol you'll always be anxious whether your weapon is loaded or not or whether the barrel has a round despite empty magazine. (personal opinion).

Also for first timers I would recommend a .22 bore as it is light recoil and easy to fire, less expensive rounds and good for target practice, My younger brother started with IOF .22LR and his experience was good.

Agreed,
But one might also question the weight of the weapon when he/she is conceal carrying the weapon.

I am not a first timer. Checked for RFI pistol, but found the slide pull very very hard which I think can be a problem in combat situations hence decided to buy Feild gun 1996 model mark 1 revolver. Shot 12 rounds for test and it is butter smooth. Will post the pics soon.

Thanks Vineet ji. Just one query, that is it factory bluing or aftermarket? I was told that it was of the lot which was alloted on MPs and MLAs quota by Field Gun, Kanpur in 1996. Otherwise it is very neat and nice looking.
