Greetings! Esteemed members! Could you enlighten me on the concealed carriage of weapon? Like, can I carry a weapon in partially visible OWB holster, say, in a function of sort? Or those waist bands are the legally best choice? Lastly, If I want to target practice, where can I do so if a firearm range is not available near me?

this is what the law says.

(1) No person shall carry a firearm in a public place unless the firearm is carried –

(a) in the case of a handgun –

(i) in a holster or similar holder designed, manufactured or adapted for the
carrying of a handgun and attached to his person; or

(ii) in a rucksack or similar holder; or

(b) in the case of any other firearm, in a holder designed, manufactured or
adapted for the carrying of a firearm.

(2) A firearm contemplated in sub-rule (1) must be completely covered and the
person carrying the firearm must be able to exercise effective control over such
firearm.

(3) Brandishing or discharge of firearms or blank-firing firearms in any public
place or a firearm free zone is strictly prohibited.

(4) Any violation of this rule shall be liable to revocation of the licence and
seizure of the firearm in addition to the penalty specified under the Act.


about the target practice, arms law says weapons issued for sporting shall be only used at the shooting range or rifle clubs, but doesn't say anything about guns under self defense or crop protection. so you may can use it within the premises of your private property. people are doing it.

it is ok if it is inside holster and visible. you should not take it out for show-off.

It is very clearly written above (in point no. 2) that the firearm should be completely covered. So if the weapon or holster is visible then it’s not ok.

Also the thing to consider is that how much policemen know about these rules.

ok. my bad. i didn't read that. what policemen know and how they interpret is a very big question.

why dont you file an RTI on this to home ministry and let them explain it.
