safety and extent of legality of gun modification
This is in reference to the modified rfi ashani mk2 in the video , though the gun looks quite appealing against the reg. ashani mk2, it just provoked the thought that till what extent is the modification to a gun legal and safe. From the looks the slide has been changed the frame would have been changed too to accommodate the rectangular slide , also it seems that the recoil spring would be around the guide rod than the barrel (even if it isn't, what would be the difference the extra mass on the slide make in shooting performance india isn't the best manufacturers of springs and i am sure the gun spring would have been designed to operate with the original slide weight)
The query that I have is around the safety and legality of such type modification at what point does the gun loose all its originality and become a new product all together and do such modification hold the same degree of sturdiness with which the firearm was tested and approved ( not to say original ashani has any high benchmarks, but still)

Arms rules 2016 says
(9) The licensee shall not alter or re-engrave or remove the serial number or any other identification mark of a firearm without the prior written permission of the licensing authority.
(11) The licensee gun smith who carries out alteration of the mechanism, caliber or barrel length of a firearm, before the conclusion of the work, shall notify the licensing authority in writing of –
(i) the particulars of the firearm, including the type, name, caliber and manufacturer’s serial number or additional identification number;
(ii) the name and address of the licensee along with his UIN, licence number and date of the issue of the licence in respect of the firearm;
(iii) the particulars of the work performed on the firearm.
The reality is that these rules are not followed when modifications as mentioned above by OP are performed on a firearm. If the gun smith notify the Licensing Authority (LA) then definitely LA will object to it as we know they (LA) are not very public friendly people

Thank you Vineet ji for highlighting the legal bye laws. How do you rate the safety aspect of modification do they effect the performance and reliability also if any guidelines exist to refer to if considering such heavy modifications.
