Where can I get Walther PKK activated in India
I got a deactivated walther PKK with me.
It is indeed deactivated.
Q1: Can I bring backthis deactivated beauty to live?
Q2: If yes then where in India?
Thanks

As you say you are based in the EU,why would you want to bring a deactivated hand gun, when on a TR per
rules one can import one NIB fire arm.
It is not as though the PPK's are collectibles, you will save yourself a lot of pain trying to have it activated
here.

You would FIRST need legal permissions to 'reactivate' the firearm... since this is an unusual case, I doubt any official would even know what to do with your request - hence they will simply deny it!
Without relevant permissions, reactivating a deactivated firearm would be highly illegal - leading to a potential 7 years in prison!
Cheers!

BTW - I agree with Sanjay... Get a proper firearm back with you under Transfer of Residence rules and forget all about this deactivation/ reactivation business!! IIRC in the UK handguns with barrels longer than 10 inches can be had on a FAC... get a nice one and simply have the barrel shortened and recrowned by a good 'smith when you come to India. Details on how to import a firearm under TR rules can be found elsewhere on the forum...
Cheers!

Sorry for the ignorance, but what is a "deactivated" gun? How is a gun "deactivated/activated"?
regards,

Deactivated- normally when essential parts like firing pin is filed off, removed, barrel may be drilled through and/ or filled with lead.
Similar to DEWAT- deactivated war trophy.
IMO it would be grossly illegal to get in a replica, then activate it.So how would it be legalised?get the gun first then a licence?

Re: Where can I get Walther PKK activated in India
Though there are some vague references in the Arms Act regarding converting of non-firing arms to functional arms, there is no clear definition of this. Also, why would anyone want to do that when procuring a real licensed firearm would be all the more convenient and perhaps less expensive in terms of time and effort.
Also take it for granted that most babu's will have no idea of activation/de-activation.... not to mention anything of the proper procedures and rules. When supposedly 'normal' arms related interaction causes a babu to see red, re-activating a firearm is bound to provoke a bout of constipation. As Abhijeet said, it'll more likely be turned down.
Simpler to get in a real firearm under TR.

Re: Where can I get Walther PKK activated in India
Mr Singh,
Modifying a Deactivated Fire Arms/In other arms/device in such a way that it can fire projectile, is a serious offence and is punishable by law. Even if you have valid handgun license, I am afraid that trying to reactivate the firearms will not solve your purpose because in most cases if the PPK is deactivated properly in that case the firing pin will be removed, firing pin chamber will be drilled, Barrel will bored and sealed and chamber is bored so that Headspace is tampared and will not match with actual ammunition, probably only the frame will be in original shape so its almost impossible to bring it back to its original condition unless you replace all its major components with original one.
If you are really keen about bringing a firearms please follow the legal process as stated by others.
Regards
Saptarshi

Mr.SinghIsTheKing,
When you come to Delhi ask for a place called Tihar. When you reach a building with high walls and lot's of men with guns around just tell them why you have come there. They will take you to the 'workshop' where this is done. However they might take that 'King' away from that 'Singh'.
Another nut case??????

Re: Where can I get Walther PKK activated in India
Deactivation specs vary somewhat within the EU but the latest - and for some years now - specs in the UK make it nigh-on impossible to re-activate guns. This is as direct response to guns being re-activated from the earlier deactivation specifications. As such, current deactivated semi-autos will not even function.
A deactivated revolver for example will have the barrel bore welded - not plugged with lead - the barrel welded to the frame ( to prevent removal ) the firing pin aperture welded closed, the firing pin necessarily cut back, the cylinders overbored and so on.
Why is it that some idiots think that there are `easy` ways to get round firearms legislation ? Their scheming and manoevering suggests a mindset that is totally incompatible with responsible firearms ownership. They`d rather be a criminal than take the logical step of applying for a Firearms Licence/Certificate and are precisely the sort of people that encourage governments to introduce ever more restrictions on the legitimate ownership of firearms. As such they are the true enemy of all legitimate gun owners/hunters/sporting and target shooters/collectors - and those that aspire to obtain legally held firearms in the future.
SCUM of the first order.
On a lighter ( and legal ! ) note, I`ve had a hankering to own a WWI deactivated Lewis gun with the full works - Tripod, barrel jacket, hose, water container, and cartridge belt with ( deactivated ) ammunition - for some time and mount it in the front garden. The only problem is that the neighbours would go bananas, the weather would rust it to scrap in no time and the postmen would cease delivering the mail ! Much too large to fit in our living room.........................
Ah well. At least I won`t be wasting a considerable amount of money on what is fundamentally an ornament.

Only kings can have such ideas to activate a deactivated firearm no sensible Singh would even think of doing it.

Thanks all (including Singh Bros) for replies..
I know how painful it could be to reactivate sleeping beauty.
I'll see what can be done
