Glimpse of New .32 Modified Pistol from RFI Ishapore.

I dont pretty write much here but just wanted to let all know few days back i went to RFI ISHAPORE to claim warranty for my iof .22 Bolt action rifle where i was given a new rifle as i had chambering problem with the old rifle as cases of bullets were becoming bulged and also giving ejection problems.
On my way there i chanced upon their Handgun assembly department where i saw their Brand new .32 Modded Pistol which was fantastic and it comes dirt cheap.
1.Looks a bit of walther pp from the behind profile. slight modification to the grip can give it a more drastic makeover.
2.it has a external hammer not a striker fired like my .32 Pistol from Rfi.
3.It has got adjustable rear and front sights as the previous one didnt have sights.
4.mag release button.
In Short a very beautiful creation from RFI. Heard already 6000pieces are in order. Very lucky to see it from the factory itself

its not the same as it looks in pic.. the rear and foresights which are adjustable gives a way better look. i have seen it in hand.

This pistol is selling in market for around Rs. 73,000. Drop in price by Rs. 22,000 as compared to Ashani mark II.

Also the thing to note is when pump action gun was introduced by IOF last year, its retail price was around Rs. 54,000. Afterwards IOF increased its price two times, once by Rs. 5,000 and second time by Rs.15,000.

I think very soon IOF will increase the price of this '.32 modified pistol' also.

I haven't received this new pistol by RFI yet. Will do when I receive it next week.

The Ashani mark II is manufactured by GSF factory. Out of the two factories, GSF and RFI, quality of RFI is much better.

There will be no buyers for Ashani mark II by Gsf if the price difference continues to be Rs. 22,000. Either RFI will increase its price or Gsf will have to come down.

There are some differences.
1. Gsf mk2 has very thick grip and because of this, the grip safety doesn't get depressed naturally. One has to make a conscious decision to depress the grip safety where as modified rfi's grip is not that thick.
2. Mk2 has a spring in the grips that pushes the magazine out with force when the magazine release button is pushed but there is not such thing in rfi modified.
3.Rfi's pistol has improved sights.
4. Rfi modified has same old barrel bush. It is loose, it can rotate and come off during firing. One should apply araldite or some similar adhesive to prevent it from coming off where as Mk2 has fixed this issue. Their pistol's barrel bush is fixed and there is a special key (that they give with the pistol) that is needed to open/remove the barrel bush.
5. A lot if vibration is felt in mk2 pistol's hammer. This vibration is quite less in rfi pistol.
6. The price difference that I mentioned above.

New hammered pistol Ashani hae been launched from RFI it is better and safer than Ashani mark2 very nice butt and looks accurate while holding.

Ashani Mark Mk-II pistol creates hope for export

Kolkata: In what has come as a major boost to state-run defence production Ashani Mark (Mk) II, the 0.32 calibre pistol manufactured by Gun & Shell Factory (GSF), Cossipore for civilian purpose including women safety, has attracted some foreign countries as probable buyers within seven months of its launch.

Inspired by the overseas interests, the Ordnance Factory Board establishment of the defence ministry has filed the bids also to get export orders. The development, however, comes at a time when lack of issuance of firearm licences allegedly by the state government has created a bottleneck for gun sale in the domestic market.

On Friday, GSF, Cossipore, senior general manager Dr Rajib Chakraborty told this newspaper, “Ashani MK II was a new launch after so many years. It has caught the attention of some foreign countries. In fact, we have received some queries from West Asian Countries. We are hopeful that we will get orders.”

He elaborated, “Basically the market is very positive about this pistol. I do not want to name those countries immediately. But there are good number of countries approaching us. We have given the quotations also. Hopefully we will get the orders. That day will be a red letter day not only for the GSF, Cossipore but also for the entire country.” Dr Chakraborty reasoned, “The only thing is that the state government is not coming forward to issue the licences. Unless the licences are issued to the individuals, nothing can happen because the entire issue depends on the licencing. Licencing is not in our hand. It is a state subject.”

He explained, “So it is the district police authorities, the district magistrates or the commissioner of police are those who issue the licences. Based on the licences the individuals can purchase this pistol.”

Since its launch in December last year, the GSF, Cossipore has sold around 5000 pieces of Ashani Mk II, according to sources.

Dr Chakraborty was speaking after inaugurating a new two-storeyed museum at GSF, Cossipore where many cannons, weaponry and documents from the pre-British era have been showcased to create awareness about the country’s defence production capacity. The museum will be open for the visitors in between 10 am and 5 pm on weekdays.
