Handgun advice and .45 ACP status

Hi everyone

I recently got an arms license for an NPB Pistol/Revolver for self defence and wanted to explore the options. As Insee I have the following 3 options available to me-

1. Buy IOF pistol/revolver
2. Buy an imported handgun from India
3. Buy a IOF weapon now and ask a friend, an national level shooter, to import a handgun and then after 2 years get it transferred to my license.

I wanted to know if 3 is possible. Can a national level shooter import any handgun and then transfer it. If this is the case then I will buy an IOF weapon now and later get the imported one.

Secondly is .45 ACP a NPB? Do we have anyone who has recently gotten endorsed for a .45 ACP. After the 2016 rules I think there is some confusion regarding the status and I would like it to be cleared.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Option 3 is feasible with two constraints . The person importing has to be a renowned shot ( not just a national level shooter) second you would have to be an aspiring shooter for him to sell it to you after two years ( or at least a member of a state rifle association)

Be advised that only .22 and .32 calibre are now allowed for import.

Refer other posts on the forum where it has been discussed that .45 is now a npb after the 2016 arms act and rules .

Although .45 is clearly npb now after the Arms Rules 2016, still check with your district licensing branch because if they think its pb, you will have hard time convincing them.
