Revolver's build quality

IOF .32 revolver is identical to webley small frame but webley is heavy and looks stronger, smiths 2 inche barrel is the lightest.which is the best quality revolver considering built quality and rugdeness ect.what is supposed to be best revolver that money can buy in India.please post your suggestions ,Regards,James..

Hi James,

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, in an Indian Perspective, it's next to impossible to give a definite answer. It will all depend on how fortunate you'd be in finding a good seller/dealer.

By Indian standards, almost all foreign made revolvers will be decent firearms in their factory-fresh condition.

A S&W, Colt or any gun that has not been well looked after or abused will still be junk, no matter what the brand.

Thanks for your reply ,i was interested in analysing the above stated Revolvers under ideal condictions i.e assuming that good condiction piece is taken up,however one of the dealer yesterday quoted me 2 lac for Ruby 3inche barrel .32 bore in good condiction,how are they graded in India,it looks identical to S&W.Please advice..Cheers James..

Do keep in mind the fact that due to the tiny ammunition quotas on most licenses, almost all the guns you will come across (which were directly imported) would not have had a chance to be shot enough to "wear out" - regardless of the brand!

However - handguns in India do come to grief, mostly through improper care leading to corrosion, the use of improper ammunition leading to various types of damage and last (but NOT the least) passing through the hands of blacksmiths posing as gunsmiths!

As you would very well agree, there is absolutely no brand on this planet which could withstand the above three bugbears... therefore a S&W in good nick would be preferable to a Colt in bad repair and a Webley in good condition would be better than a Ruger which has been badly repaired locally... It's all to do with the actual condition of the firearm being evaluated... and of course easy availability of ammunition, else you are just buying a very expensive piece of metal...
