choombak's first handgun - S&W 617 revolver

After a lot of search, reviews, visits to gun shops, and handling quiet a few of 'em, the Smith & Wesson 617 revolver seemed an overall excellent choice for first handgun. Caliber is .22LR, 10 rounds, 4" barrel, all stainless and weighs a whopping 1.1 kg.
This is an every elusive revolver and took me over two months to locate a new one, and a month to complete the purchase. It hasn't been fired yet, hopefully in the coming week. Meanwhile, enjoy a few quick shots...

Very beautiful revolver. Congrats for the purchase. And may I ask you the reason behind going for .22? Is it that you are a new to handguns and you wanted a lighter one?

Primary aim being target shooting, .22 ammo is inexpensive. Next hop will be a bigger caliber (mostly 9mm).

Subscribe to several gun sites, look through gun broker, handgunfinder, and so on. Finally landed a brand new from bumblebee firearms via gunbroker. Hyatt Gun Shop has a few in stock for $799. My final cost with ffl transfer fees etc. was about $850. Hope this helps.

Congrats Buddy,
Of course some of us enjoyed the pics last week
When it comes to a wheelgun my personal choice goes like this.... Smith, Colt and... Manhurin.
This 617 is a great looking handgun and I am sure very well balanced as well.
Do post some pics from the range and a range report as well.
My best wishes once again
TC
