How good is this handgun?

Post by maverick786us » Tue Dec 02, 2014 9:47 am

I am planning to buy an air pistol. How good is Smith & Wesson M&P 45 CO2 Pistol? I am getting it for 12K with no additional charges, no import duty, these items are already imported, so I don't have to face the mess of customs

Just don't put your hand in front of the muzzle like all these YouTuber's are fond of doing.

I have not had any experience with PCP's but tons of experience over a variety of Co2 Replicas from UMAREX. Don't get me wrong, these are really beautifully replicated as to the feel, authenticity; beautiful, quality, all metal construction and weight. They were all REPEATERS - main USP!

I think that if they lack in one area it is the air supply system; is not quite up to the mark. Failures are mostly in the area of the gas dispensation system especially the failure of the rubber gasket / seal and inconsistent performance through the life of the gas supply. I mean you think you are getting groups when suddenly the pellets start falling drastically and you can hear two distinct sounds - phat-phut (fire and hit the target with a distinct gap)

I had at one time (I had a pair of most of them - you will understand my logic - I had two arms)
  • S&W 6” Revolver x 2 - 8 Shot
    Beretta 92FS Pistol x 2 - 8 Shot
    Winchester Lever Action Rifle x 2 - 8 Shot
    Walther CP99 Pistol - 8 Shot
    Etc…I forget what else

Great innovation, lot's of effort in development and design to deliver that Oomph - Kudos! Here again, I am only saying that the technology is not up to scratch; not yet - hopefully someone will come up with better ideas and sort the issue out. In the end for a passionate buyer they turn out to be a disappointment within a few months to a year, when fired regularly, even once a week! :(

That said, the look and feel of these AR's simply take one's breath away and they are definitely attractive / buyable in areas where true firearms are so difficult to get hold of due to rules and legislation, OR are simply age restricted. :D

Eventually it is up to the individual buyer and their passion - I just had to buy these beauties so that I could hold them in my hands! In the end I was disappointed in the usage but they still made incredible wall hangers and party talk pieces!

I rest my case!

The lever action winchester took 2 x Co2 capsules. The pressure dropped quite rapidly - under performing gaskets! In the end, when I went change the capsules I would find that one capsule invariably had a lot of residual gas, meaning that the gas was drawn from only one capsule - what a waste! Maybe, I should have tried loading with one single full capsule and one empty? :)

Kalyan Da you are bringing your mysterious cats out real slowly

Never told us about your great Co2 collection .... not to mention the Diana Model 48 (I am sure its a 22) my dream air rifle always.

Have one question - and a rather vital one !!
One can understand buying handguns in pair so that you may load up and hold two revolvers or two pistols and fire 16 or 20 rounds at will both hands  Its real fun, especially if you have put up beer cans.

But why did you need two lever action rifles ? You only need one for that perfect shot

Thanks TC. Actually I did make a post some years ago sharing this collection.

That is a Diana Air King Mod 54, side lever in .22 Cal - accurate and powerful beauty :D

What can I say about buying in twos - I guess I just went overboard! :(

Wish I could go overboard too here in India

I must face capital punishment for missing that link you mention. Will spend a long time on it this weekend.

PS: The 54 is a great piece of engineering but the 34 is the raw accurate powerhouse
