I hope it was more of an ouch than any serious hurt. I once saw a photo of an extremely graphic photo of a finger that was badly injured for being in the wrong place when that hand canon was being fired.
Thanks for the video.

Till now I thought 44mag was the ultimate in handguns....
But this monster (500mag) scares the @#$% out of me!!!!
BTW - Is this caliber of any practical use or is it just a arms designer's fancy to produce something like this???
> Nevertheless Thanks ronj for sharing this video clip

Nice shooting experience with that hand cannon ronj!
Ouch - that must have been one painful 4th shot!!
There is a test that hickok45 carries out on a revolver that demonstrates the enormous paper-shredding power between the cylinder and forcing cone here:

Brihaji,
You have to remember that handguns have a fraction of the muzzle velocity and energy that rifles have.
They are also generally a short range proposition when hunting. The more energy and velocity you can deliver down range, the better you chances are of making a humane kill. The 500 S&W Magnum was developed with the goal of being able to take all North American game when armed with a handgun.
A comparison: The 44 Remington Magnum on the left and the .500 S&W Magnum on the right.

+1 xl_target! In Canada one is not allowed to hunt with a handgun.
