Girsan Yavuz 9mm 16 MC Compact Pistol

Friends, this has been a 'taxing' journey for me so far, from the Indian sub-continent of my birth, through various lesser known regions, countries, on to the deserts of the Middle East and etc and ... in the end, on to Canada! - roughly a five year lifestyle - give or take a bit here an there in Canada!

So, at the moment I am just celebrating!

Lots of Veggies broiled, and the chicken (thigh and leg meat only – spicy hot masala) grilled to "medium-well done" status in the oven. The - heart of lettuce was truly fresh and crunchy - the Cabernet Sauvignon - Dry (LA, Cal) made it a very interesting package altogether!

Please, my friends at IFG - join me and have a blast. For the GUNZ and ROSE-Z please bear with me I am still recovering from the delicious (although I say so myself) Ovened Chicken (I was really planning on turkey, in honor of the country of origin of the Girsan)

So why.....this is before....

Kalyan,

   :D :D :D

Bravo! Well done and congratulations! I read very good things about them and checked out a couple of them here. Looks very well made and well finished.

The plate looks scrumptious. However, I bet the pistola in the box is more scrumptious.

Happy shooting.

Best-
Vikram

So, now I start disassembling the BOX only brothers – I still don’t know what this mean machine is all about! Is there a way and an OK place where I can find to go shooting in the 'bush' as they say?

Restricted Firearms - discharge in the range only... Non-Restricted Firearms like 'most' Shotguns, Rifles and long-guns, may be fired in certain areas! Hah - figure out exactly where it is OK?!

Girsan Mag Fits double stack - (15 Rnd Cap - killed to 10 Rnds in Can) fits pretty good even in my smaller hands

That is a nice looking pistol, CK. Bon appetit, and when you finish with your well-deserved celebratory meal, please share some photos of the pistol's turn at the table, devouring some of that Blazer fare.

The pistol looks good! Congratulations.

Thanks TC - I am glad, rather astounded, that a huge machine-gunner like yourself liked this piece; of course I do understand that you have about a 60% soft spot for hand guns - huh?!

Ha, TC these Turks are killing me - preventing me from picking up the Rugers (Lugers, that WE both love) Gaaaah! Too bad TC - I have no $ left for L/Rugers, immediately! :(

To tell you the truth there was a Luger available (real old one - silver plated, slightely banged up - P38) I was drooling over it at the shop. Phew! I mean that was a real period piece!

Then there were some - hello - are you real - kind of things - a pair of 100 Yr Anniv 1911's - silver?! They called it a 1911-2011 Set - Nice!

Yeah! Exactly, there were too many zeros after the first digits!

Image

So, I could not resist it - asked the chap (Chinese - yeah we do speak Chinese - mostly in Canada  )'Kitne Ka Hai' ? Bolta Hai - Bik Gaya in Hindi / Urdu - Huh!!!!???? Grrrr...

So I say, xiè xie ni and slid out of the store, expediently!

Kalyan Da,
I have fired quite a few auto rifles and SMGs ( even much bigger guns that weigh a few tons  ) but my heart lies in what I can actually possess and use in India - HANDGUNS.
This Girsan looks great and I am sure its Beretta gene makes it the perfect handgun on the field.
Can understand your soft corner for the Luger design but it is not really a practical move to buy an antique at a price when what you actually need is a new piece for self defence. The Turk wins hands down
Special edition 1911s are always coveted items but I guess... only for a collection.
I am sure you are gonna save some $ and buy a collector's delight sooner or later.
Let the Turk ride in your holster and later a 1911 or a Luger can rest in a display case above the fire place :D

Oh I can feel the warmth as I write :D

Took a tour of canada ammo.com to find what else was on offer in this price range.
The Girsan turns out to be the best option.

Substantially less priced (more than 150 $ in fact ) was the Norinco 1911 clone.
And then I read the specs.....

Norinco 1911 Government Model

1911A1 Government Model, Blued

7+1 Capacity
45 ACP
2 Mags
Cleaning Rod

No "China" or "Norinco" markings, just "1911A1 45 ACP"

Undoubtedly you made the best choice.

TC

PS : I kept my promise... had two more last night in honour of the Turkish beauty as I watched Shakira perform at the finale

Congrats CK.
Eagerly waiting for the range report.

If the political situation doesn't alter drastically, Turkey is poised to become an industrial powerhouse.
The industrial infrastructure that they have built up is going to pay big dividends for them.
Their firearms industry is gathering steam and they already have the quality control part down.
This is what the Indian firearms industry could look like.

Hi CKK!
> Congrats Bro - What an acquisition :cheering:
> "Girsan" indeed ...now you can call it CKKSan / Kalyansan (like the Japanese - adding San as respect & reverence :D
> The Cabernet & Victuals look very appetizing!!!
> Oh! BTW - Talking of Turkey - Go to Youtube & listen to Ertha Kitt singing "Ishq Dara" in Turkish - Used to be my favorite - There's one line in the song (English) which says "Ishq Dara" is a small town in Turkey where "Women have Male secretaries"
> Hastan air rifles are made in Turkey - supposed to be good...
> Waiting to see some of your "Sudden" trial shots soon :skeet:

The first thing I notice in the photo was the chilled red wine. Wine snobs may turn their nose up at that but who cares as long as you enjoy it? :D

Now don't tell me the glass wasn't washed hence the clouded look. ROTFL
