Holsters for High standard /Ruger mark II/III
Hi All,
Please see attached picture of a Holster which is designed to fit Ruger Mark II & III pistol. I was just wondering if it can fit my High Standard Model B .22 Pistol. By looking at the pictures it seems it can fit but it is better to take view of our distinguished Senior Members.
Kindly Advise

Re: Holsters for High standard /Ruger mark II/III
Zaheer,
Having owned and used both the Ruger Mark I (which has the same frame size as the Mark II ) and the Hi Standard Model B, I can say for sure that this moulded holster will not fit the Hi Standard the way it is supposed to because the Model B has a much sleeker frame and thinner barrel, not to mention a flat and thin slide. The Model B will dance around in this holster.
No holster (especially the moulded ones) meant for Rugers will fit the Model B. I have carried the Ruger with 6.7 in barrel in an Uncle Mike No 4 shoulder holster. Putting a Model B in it feels like putting a pencil inside a pen stand meant for 3 pens. Hope you get what I mean.
Frankly speaking, there is no factory made holster in the market that will fit the Model B. You have to improvise.
Hope that helps

Hi TC..
Thanks very much for the feed back and professional advise. It is very hard to get a holster for HS Model B here. Yes you are right, I have to compromise & Improvise.

You are most welcome Zaheer.zaheer.bakshi wrote:Hi TC..

I can tell you what I did once. I am sure you have seen the open top and open bottom belt holsters that have cutouts for the belts at both ends. These basically hold a pistol against the body without actually covering the whole gun. See the link. I got hold of a local holster maker in Kolkata and got one made out of good cow hide. Its very simple. You can get it stitched according to your preference - i.e. the pistol can stay straight OR with the grip at a forward angle. Ken Null once made of these for a suppressed Ruger Mark II. That's where I got the idea. I am sure you can find it on the net.
Too bad a friend whacked my holster. Or else I could have posted a pic.
Cheers

Thanks again TC. This is just what I had in my mind. I will try this with a local shop who can possibly do this. I will also search on www ..and see if there are any available and suitable holsters to fit my HS.
