Hi,

I am new to this group and guns.I am planning to come back to India next year from US on TR while coming back i want to bring a weapon with me.So i have short listed some weapons

Rugers Mark 3

Beretta 87 T

Savage Mark II TR

Please suggest which of these will be better and can be imported to India as Rugers M3 and Beretta and semi auto.

I am interested to do some target shooting so i am preferring .22 as heard the ammo is easily available.

Can i also bring the additional magazines, suppressor and scope from US with me.

Thanks,
AD

The Ruger Mark 3 would be the best choice. Since this will be a onetime import get the Ruger - but with a short barrel so that you may carry it as well.
Have been using a Ruger Mark 1 for years. They are built to serve a few generations.

No point getting a rifle. You can still by an Indian .22 rifle here for around 35k but you will NEVER get a brand new Ruger. Even if you get a lightly used second hand one it will cost you a fortune.

My advice would be make the best of this TR.

This is a million dollar advise. Try a Walter ppq m2 in .22 rim fire.

The five inch would be the best option.

The other alternative would be to buy a 1911 in 38 super with a .22 convertible barrel..

Hi AD,
I am planning to do the same in about 2 years. In the process of finalizing a pistol, my options so far are
1) colt 1911 in 22lr by walter arms
2) Kimber 1911 in 22lr
3) ruger mk 3

Where are you located BTW.

Under TR, a licensee is allowed to import, one firearm (owned overseas for 1 year+), per person for a life-time ownership. So choose wisely and buy ASAP to fulfill the ownership requirement.
Second, unless you already have a license, keep in mind the very real fact, that your chances of being granted a pistol/revolver license are slim to none. While not easy nor guaranteed, the license for a .22 rim fire rifle is easier to obtain. So my advise, unless already a licensee, start working on that end, otherwise, you might end up with your gun being impounded by customs, has happened to many people, who brought guns, but, could not get a license.
Finally, keep in mind, if you will have access to range use/and/or/association ammunition, cause most licenses are issued with very low annual ammunition limits.

Ruger is what I'd go for.
