Which NPB to take on a TR?

I'm originally from the US, but my wife is from TN. We worked together in Bangalore for a few years after getting married, but relocated to the US for better job prospects - especially for her. Now with two young ones we were planning to shift back to Bangalore in 5-6 years. But I recently got a great offer from an MNC in Bangalore, and while I didn't take it, I think we may be shifting sooner than later. So it is time to think about what firearms to shift when the time comes. Ammo availability is certainly a consideration - although I don't think I'll be able to shoot nearly as much there as here, the 50 import limit is too less. That said, for my wife status is an important consideration too. As much as she loves her MDX, no one in her family at least knows the Acura brand and they give her a hard time for driving an off brand car, not realizing it is Honda's luxury division.

Anyway, I present some options, and am open to input as well.

First up - my P238.

Of course, the PPK/s is maybe more of a classic in .380, but this one has been less than reliable...

This PP (made in France, as were all Post-War PP models until US production started) on the other hand has been the epitome of reliability. Unfortunately, it is in .32.

While .32 and .380 ammo are at least theoretically available in India, they are a bit on the lighter side.

Maybe something bigger bore, like this relatively rare 10mm Colt Gold Cup 1911?

Then, you really can't go wrong with a wheel gun either...



Especially a 7 shot with a 6" barrel!

Or is it better to stick with something dead reliable?

Welcome back... Anything in .22lr or .32 S&W long or .32acp would be a good choice taking into account ammunition availability. However in terms of stopping power .357 magnum is also a NPB and will be a good choice however ammo availability will be scarce and expensive (an S&W 686 plus 7shot revolver can be a good gun in this category).

Of course, if not for all this PB / NPB issue I might make another choice...

But then, if I could just take anything would probably be hard to beat this...

The cool factor which is important to you a Beretta Cheetah 82 in .32 acp or aWalther PPK are also befitting... However if I were in your place I would look at something practical and easily concealable and a gun your wife and you will be always able to carry and shoot well.

Beautiful guns. I can imagine why you would want to bring them all along. You have to be careful about security in India. People would break into a house just to lay their hands on such weapons simply because the Indian government makes the legal ownership of weapons on par with ownership of of a Lamborghini or other high end car.

Almighty lovely set of guns, so long as you as you can put the bullet where it counts, then i guess any of the above will do adequately. If you are a regular on the shooting range, then you could do well to choose the calibre for which ammo is readily available in India.
