Indians For Guns

A friend of mine ( Dad is IAS ) is looking to get a gun license.His dad will probably get one first.Being a well connected man, he could probably swing a PB license.

Is it practical to get a 1911 on a PB license? I know they are cheaper than most other guns.What about ammo availability and the guns themselves? Are they in good nick? Heard there a a few floating around in Mumbai.What about in Bangalore?

My friend was looking to get a .357 mag as well.He mentioned a shooter friend of his could get one imported.This is not possible AFAIK, as shooters can import weapons limited to their discipline.Any way a .357 mag can be imported? Ammo is ridiculously expensive i gather.

Though 1911's are most commonly chambered for .45 ACP, a few other offerings are also available. However, .45 ACP is a Prohibited Bore in India as far as I know.

pb guns are cheaper but ammo costs sky high.anything above .32 ammo is rare and costly.1911 is available in llama at present with a dealer in banglore.

.45ACP ammo is relatively cheap and easily available.

For those who say a pistol in .45ACP is a Prohibited firearm,Schedule I of the Arms Rules classifies firearms..45ACP is not in the list of Prohibited firearms. There is nothing called a 'Prohibited Bore' in either the Arms Act or Rules.

I doubt the gentleman in question will be able to obtain a license for a ,so called PB firearm,regardless of his being in the IAS.That is unless he fulfills the conditions for obtaining it.Being in the IAS is not one of them.

Winnie, are you sure ammo is cheap and easily available? I had heard on the contrary.Could i trouble you for an approx cost per round? Are you talking about Bangalore or elsewhere?

You are correct, PB is a misnomer.But the Babus dikat it is.Friend was pulled over for speeding once, the cop insisted limit was 50 when a board 20 feet away clearly said 60!! They say what they please.

Yes, he did have a gun once.He is a IFS, not IAS as i recall now.Busted a load of poaching rings back in the day.
