.32 cart.

Went to an Arms dealer in Dehradun to pick up some ammo for my 3006 rifle and casually asked him the price of some "Imported .32 pistol ammo for my 'imported' pistol."
The reply I got was shocking.
Almost had a heart attack.
Rs 700/= a pop.
The last time I picked it up was for Rs 250/=. Just a couple of years back.
Have the prices actually gone up so much?

700 a pop!! No wonder we don't encourage ourself to use our handguns to prevent us from being robbed. It'll be cheaper to just give away the wallet and at this rate someday maybe even my car!

I know NRAI and DSRA provide .32 ammo- though only for target practice.THey provide it at a much cheaper rate, though can't recall the exact price.

I thought using my 3006 would burn a hole in my pocket. Whats the price at which you picked up ammo for 3006? I intend to pick it up in Delhi sometime this week.

Thanks for the info dr jayakumar.I couldn't believe that guy when he said 700. Asked him again and got the same answer. I have 5 left. Will have to think twice before I take my pistol to the range next.
Thank God for small mercies. Glad I have a quota of 25 rounds a year. Can't afford anything more than that.

Why don't you use KF ammo ? We use it in 'imported' pistols too.

Imported ammo for carrying/self defense and KF for plinking...

At this rate, when robbers pay you a visit, you may do a cost-benefit analysis before you use your firearm to protect your property. It is quite possible that, the ammunition costs more than what is being robbed.

Guys, .32 imported ammo is still selling at a little less in Kolkata. Around 400 a pop but that's no good news at all. Tomorrow it may touch 700. I saw this coming and sold my Beretta Model 70 a few years ago. It was one of the last ones purchased abroad and imported into the country before the ban. But there was no point in having an excellent weapon that I could not afford to fire. At that time the price was around 200/250 a pop. I shifted to .22

Hello all,

Sorry its off topic- I had a Anschutz .22 and my friend has Beretta 92FS (9mm) and another 30 cal rifle while I was abroad. We did holiday hunting during season and some target practice. My friend was a citizen and a pro hunter, so used to buy bulk ammo and stacked for practice. .22lr was about 4-6 cents for CCI etc, 9 MM was about 12-25 cents and 30 cal was about the same as 9mm.

After me returning to India.. purchased an IOF .22 rifle i was surprised to see the price tag of Rs 45000 (about USD 900) for local Indian rifle and I would have got a really good deal in US. But what i wounder is the price of the gun, ammo and ammo quote which limits individuals to use the arms only during emergency and not for refresh their shooting and self defense skills. The price here is almost 10 times (about Rs25-30 for KF) the price we get in US and Australia.

May be a petition has to filed to the respective authority for price control, availability and quote hike of ammo. I appreciate the RKBA, IFG and other related forum for building community where we share our knowledge, experience, educate ourselves. And I request the forum members to have meet up plan quarterly to work RKBA in India.

I once used a KF in my Remington .22 semi auto and a piece of the case broke and got stuck to the chamber.
Made it a rule thereafter to never use Indian ammo in any of my imported weapons.
Infact even for my IOF 3006 I am using Sellier and Ballot and am very happy with the performance.

Dear All, KF ammo are not as bad as they are abused everytime. I have fired near about fifty rounds (of .32 s&w KF) with my revolver during last 8 years without a single misfire. But be careful to buy only fresh stocks because the shelf life (as mentioned by iof)for ammo made by KF is only 5 years.
Regards.
