Is it true that iof is launching a better titanium alloy .32revolver? Plz share ur knowledge.

Where did you hear that? they are going to come out with a steel .22 revolver...

Dear IFGian, I personally made a phone call to Field Gun Factory in first week of this month and asked about Titanium Revolver but the Lady, who attended my call, denied
the availability of any such type of revolver at present.

From what I have heard, machining titanium has its own intricacies and you cannot simply clamp a block of it and machine away like it were steel or aluminum.

One reason is apparently titanium chips are quite flammable (think something like thermite) and require their own handling systems. (I've never machined any myself but did talk to a guy who drilled a hole in a piece with his drill press and had the chip catch on fire which is how I'm aware of the issue)

The way the IOF manufactures the firearms for civilian sale is a scandal/racket.

To give you one example the IOF .32 pistol.

1.The pistol originated by mating the frame of the Colt 1903 with the slide of the Browning 1910.The jokers at IOF prepared the blueprints by taking measurements off the respective pistols so the ones for the slide are in millimeters and for the frame in inch.They did the same thing with the SLR rip off that they made for which they were successfully sued for patent infringement.This accounts for the loose fit between the two aggravated by the poor fitting at the factory.

2.The pistol is manufactured on the principle of cheapest manufacture and maximum profit.

3.Everything other than the barrel is made for the IOF by private manufacturers.The work is assigned through tender.... hint... hint....

4.Since the idea is to make it as cheaply as possible and holding tight tolerances would jack up the cost of making parts looser tolerances in manufacture by private manufacturers are tolerated/allowed/winked at/....

5.Re-employed retired workers are used to assemble the parts manufactured by private manufacturers.Since the IOF has a monopoly on the manufacture of rifled arms it can sell the pistol at any price it wants.Therefore it can employ as many people as it wishes for the manufacture of the limited pistols that they make and recover the additional cost of labour by jacking up the price,that is exactly what it does.The amount of man hours claimed on making one pistol would be very close to what a custom gun would require

6.Since the parts are built to loose tolerances to begin with and since the jokers at IOF have no work ethics or pride in their workmanship,something that they have learnt over the years that they were regular employees,the parts are shoddily fitted together.

7.Even the barrels that they make in house are poorly finished and fitted.

In the pistol that I have the chamber was not cut cleanly and the barrel was turned off center.Also all the lugs do not engage.Only the first one(towards the muzzle) engages fully,the last one( towards the chamber) engages only at the rear.The other two are obviously for show.The slide has distorted during heat treatment and so there is slight flare on the right side towards the rear and it does not engage the rails fully. The disconnector in some psitols( thankfully not in mine) has been filed to an extent that there is the possibility of it firing out of battery.Since the jokers fit the engagement of the sear,disconnector probably by putting their entire finger through the trigger guard, the disconnector is filed at an angle.

The nickle plating is poorly done.It was flaking off at some places when I got the pistol.There is no nickle in the slide serrations.The copper plating done prior to nickle plating is clearly visible.

The frame and slide is ground by hand and the grinding is not uniform.

I will when I can get one for the 75 thousand rupees I paid for this.I almost forgot,if you fire 50-60 rounds from it in one go,the pins will start walking out especially the one keeping the magazine disconnect doo das in place

Now you may ask why I own it if it is such a shitty piece of workmanship...for the simple reason (besides the price) it will chamber and fire each time and though not accurate, it will shoot a pattern(not group) that will cover a human torso.Oh! and ...it is one of the better built IOF pistols I have seen

Did you pop off that many at the range? Because 50 rounds is what most people are allowed a year...
