Today I went to a Arm & Ammunation dealer shop. Where I saw a person came with his Revelover, He said that his Revelover fall on the floor and its not working( not fired now)totally jam, trigger not pull. He told that if he purchased Pistol insted of revelover all this not happen because if Pistol are fall on the floor nothing happen like that, pistol still working. dealer ensure him not to worry.
I Want to know from my IFG members( The person says, if he purchased Pistol insted of revelover all this not happen because if Pistol are fall on the floor nothing happen like that, pistol still working). is it possible if yes than why this happen with Revelover.

Any thing that falls on the floor ,depending upon the height, will have problems .No fast rule that pistol will work and revolver will not. A pistol is more susceptible to malfunction with misalignment than a revolver due to closer tolerance and fit. Probably that gent you mentioned has not told the full truth.

A revolver is inherently a very reliable arm, much more reliable than semi autos.

However even the most reliable design can fail in some conditions. What possibly could have gone wrong? Here are some of the possibilities.

1. The revolver has a lot of powder deposit on the cylinder and this is causing the cylinder to jam up against the forcing cone.

2. The gun has gone horribly out of tune and the cylinder is not indexing. It is possibly this was slowly building up but when the gun was dropped the effects have suddenly manifested

3. Some revolvers have what is called an hammer block safety which blocks against accidental drop fire. If the cylinder latch pin does not seat properly on the ratchet than this can lock the gun. It is possible that the latch pin has been displaced and this has activated this lock.

5. The star extractor has been displaced and it is locking up the cylinder.

4. The frame of the revolver has been deformed (very unlikely but some alloy frames are sensitive)

6. There is spent cases lodged up in the cylinder.

What exactly went wrong with your friends revolver. I can not say unless the actually gun is examined.

It is possible that the revolver landed on the floor and hit the trigger guard, which may have gotten bent inwards(towards the trigger) and may be preventing the trigger from moving. This happened to my uncle's revolver, which we took to the armoury to fix.

if you can dissassemble the revolver,it can be done easily.ie if don't have broken parts within or dents.

Most any object of any size can be broken by falling on to a hard surface.

Granted, some may break easier than others but it is nothing that can be predicted. Each case will be different and the only way to know what happened would be to have a gunsmith inspect it.
