i want to know, one of my friend had Webley Revolver, 12 years old and not even fired a single shot, EXCELLENT condition. What would b the price of that revolver???? he's asking for 5 Lakhs.

Should i go for it or leave it at this price???

what would b the genuine price i go for it.

A webley & Scott that is twelve years old and has not fired a shot. There lies your clue. Or you may want to rephrase your sentence.

I was actually commenting on the lines of Goodboy's.It is quite common for a firearm to be stored without being used, especially in India.

Apart from the import restrictions, Webley&Scott stopped manufacturing firearms in the late '70s-early '80s.

If the handgun has been in possession of your friend, then that is a different question. I do not know if Rs.5 lakhs is a reasonable price in India.

I thought Webley ceased producing firearms in 1979.

Guns Lover your friend or for that matter anybody cannot have a 12 year old revolver simply because the the last revolver made by W&S Birmingham in either .32 or .38 caliber in the Mark 4 B series left the production line in 1982 i.e. exactly 30 years ago. W&S stopped production after that.

Here is the record of serial numbers from W&S archives.

Mark IV revolvers (1970- 1982) numbers B68700- B88168 in .32 & .38 cal.

Also, a goodboy mentor pointed out the revolver could not have been imported 12 years ago because there was already a ban on import. Even if I take it for granted that someone very influential and powerful imported the revolver 12 years ago it would still be at least 30 years old as far as production is concerned and had to be a second hand weapon purchased from a shop or some individual because it is difficult to believe that someone who purchased a revolver in England in 1982 did not fire a single round till 2000, the year your friend says the gun was bought/imported.

Please check the serial number stamped on the weapon. If it is more than B88168 then the serial number is fake. If it is less than B88168 then it is one from the last productions.

Now as far as price is concerned then a .32 Webley from the last B Series in mint condition should not cost a penny more than Rs 4 lakh. That's the maximum price of a second hand Webley anywhere in India.
Otherwise the normal price ranges between Rs 1.75 and 3.5 lakh depending on age and condition.

You are correct Vikram.I meant, there is a reason why it was not fired as in lack of ammo, collector piece, etc etc.He should check that.Sure, many oldies are not fired as they are preserved for aesthetic value.
