Thanks lever action... this is a very interesting piece of information. I heard this for the first time..
I read the whole text but my Hindi is not good enough for a verbatim translation. It would be great if someone in the forum posted an English translation of this new item.

Cheers

TC; here's a translation- not literal, but should be close.

Heading: Field Gun to launch a lighter version of the Revolver

By: Anurag Mishr, Kanpur

The Fieldgun Facotry will present before Diwali or New Years a revolver that will be 250gms lighter. This premium range revolver will be more attractive than before.

The factory has been working industriously to improve this .32 bore revolver. Titanium alloy will be used to make the barrel and cylinder lighter. This alloy is more expensive and consequently the input cost of the revolver will go up. To give the revolver a premium look the grip will be made in wood. This will improve the hold.

"Currently, the revolver is upto 750gms. The weight is now being reduced by 250gms. The alloy being used is more effective. Everyone will like the stylish look of the revolver. We are making a prototype and will then decide the price. We are aiming to launch it by Diwali, otherwise we will surely launch it by New Year" - Abdul Hamid, Managing Directory, Field Gun Factory.

Hope this helps!

A nice excuse by IOF to make the existing .32 bore revolver even more expensive.

Just few days back my father-in-law, seeing my IOF revolver said that it is quite heavy. It seems as if the IOF guys overheard him.

I sincerely hope that the IOF guys improve the barrel/cylinder gap on this new model. The b/c gap on current model is around .027" where as maximum b/c gap accepted worldwide is .013" inches. This gap sometimes result in throwing lot of lead shavings causing potential hazard to the shooter and the bystanders. Also too much gap result in loss of velocity on an already lowly cartridge.

Titanium Alloy ??? .. Seriously ????

What else ?? Is it going to be Platinum plated and the grips made of Ivory ????

Maybe IOF will start exporting these revolvers to US and Europe and other countries , and put Smith & Wesson , Ruger , Taurus etc out of business . Who knows ?

ROTFL

If Hind Motor claimed to make a souped up version of it's Ambassodor , which would put a Lamborghini Aventador to shame in a drag race , I may have believed it in a million years , but this ????

Oh Well , IOF guys atleast have a sense of humor
