the 4th pic looks a snapshot of COD. awesome photo!!!
how old is that gun?
how old is that gun?
So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge
Of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the
Eye of the tiger

Not sure how old the gun is coz I rented it from the range but it was well maintained, after firing around 20 rounds I could see gun oil droplets on the backside of my hand .

Too much cowadooty?
Nice way to spend holidays
Does that range allow you to use your own ammo with rented guns?

No, if you want to rent then you have to buy their ammo.Priyan wrote:Too much cowadooty?

Ammo is overpriced in shooting ranges I heard. How much did they charge you for the ammo?Bhargav wrote:No, if you want to rent then you have to buy their ammo.
Speaking of the ammo, a lot of shooters avoid Fiocci ammo after the recall of defective Fiocchi 9mm 115gr FMJ in 2006.

The reason they want you to use their ammo is that they don't want people to bring in inappropriately re-loaded ammo and blow up their guns. Besides that it doesn't hurt their bottom line when you buy their ammo.

Re: A recent visit to the range.
Well they charge more on the ammo that they sell and thats how they make money. In this particular range they charged me around $12.50 for a box of 50. which is kind of OK from my point, here when the 9mm Luger goes for sale, the box goes for around $9.99 which is same as when you buy the ammo in bulk (500 rounds).Priyan wrote:Ammo is overpriced in shooting ranges I heard. don't know about the recall on Fiocchi but if the recall was in 2006 then I am sure its fixed today.

Re: A recent visit to the range.
So what were your impressions of the XD-M and what did your groups look like?
Fiocchi ammo is fine. If there were any issues, they were fixed long ago. I've used tons of it and never had any problems.

Re: A recent visit to the range.
well I have shot the xd before and my overall view of this particular pistol is, its huge but not heavy. The 9mm luger does give a bit of a kick to it. The trigger reach for my finger was a bit far, very tiny bit and due to that, while pulling the trigger, right before the shot was fired, it was making the pistol move a bit on the right downwards.xl_target wrote:So what were your impressions of the XD-M and what did your groups look like?

Somewhere around 4 o'clock. My groups were not very tight but I would say in a 4" circle.
I personally don't like XDs and neither I like Glocks I do like the 1911s though.
One particular pistol that I have liked very much and which fits my hand like a glove is the CZ 75B in 9mm Luger.
I have also tried the CZ82 in 9mm Makarov, and I even like that. The CZ 83 in .380 and .32ACP is the sister of the 82 and so I am leaning more towards it as my first pistol purchase.
To me, a pistol or a revolver should have bit weight to it, I know its not the case in modern pistols but that's just me.

Bhargav,
I don't care very much for the Glocks and the XD either. I find most modern double stack polymer pistol frames to be too large for my hands to grip comfortably. There are some exceptions though, I liked the Smith and Wesson M&P and I liked the SIG 2340/2022 style of grip. I do like the i911 and the CZ's too.

Re: A recent visit to the range.
I am not a revolver person but I remember I had shot a Ruger 357 mag with a friend and the think had combat grips on it. The grips were sticky rubber and the gun was glued to my hand. I have never felt that comfort ever yet. Whenever I plan to buy my pistol, I plan to install combat grips on them. I just love them.xl_target wrote:Bhargav,

Its not cost effective shooting rented guns and ammo but its worth it especially if you hone your skill..then like mastercard advertisement the experience is priceless keep it going. next time try 22 in case you want to improve aim but its very hard to come across 22 pistols. 9mm are more common did you try Glock and SIG?

I agree, it's not cost effective but till I buy own gun I don't have any other option.
Here the most common 22s in pistol are the Ruger mark II.
I have tried glocks and sigs before, not a big fan.
