Guys I am planning on purchasing an imported .32 or .380. Please send me inputs regarding which make I should go for. My budget is between 5 - 6 lacs. Anyone in Delhi wanna sell pls respond.

I would suggest you kindly do some research yourself. Visit few arms dealer identify some models available , ask their price if possible click pictures.
post the pictures and then ask for suggestion. IFG is a very helping forum with very knowlegable senior members willing to help, but
your question right now is open ended and very difficult to answer in current indian senario.

One more thing , for buy sell there is a different section on IFG governed by strict rules, so try to follow them.

Thank you for the welcomeMy license is an all India license. I am from the state of Assam. I am currently in Delhi at the moment, and have visited some gunshops. But my problem is I know nada about making out the repaired/ local guns from the original imported ones. My apologies regarding wanting to buy one directly from the members in the IFG. I was not aware of the goings-on at the forum.

.380 handguns are useless in india as the catridges are very scarce

I checked out a cz the other day, and the vendor was saying something about ribbed barrels being a sign that it was relatively unused, so pretty new or is it just a case of a barrel being replaced ie repaired?

i think you should buy .32 bore pistol. czk bretta f.b browning and some more pistol are available in range of 5 to 6 lacs in market..

check vishal arms company sirsa haryan in north india section of yellow pages.i saw many good weapons in .32 bore there . all was good in conditon .

i would recommend that you go for a Walter PPK

If you are intending to use the gun as a self-defense carry weapon, I recommend that you make sure it is a Double Action pistol. This means that you can carry it safely with a round in the chamber and the hammer down, and that you can cock and fire that first shot with a single pull of the trigger.

This is in line with spin_drift's recommendation of a Walther PPK. Another pistol that is double action is the CZ50/CZ70. (These two models are basically the same pistol -- either one will do.)

There are other double action semi auto pistols made, but a good quality weapon of the double action capability is what I would look for were I in your shoes.

After this, the ergonomics (fit and feel), level of quality, condition (assuming you are talking about a used weapon) and all other such factors (such as just plain liking it) would be up to you.

I also agree on the .32 ACP cartridge choice. There is no sense in having a weapon you cannot get ammunition for.

'Ribbed barrel' means a barrel that has a raised rail (rib) that runs the length of it. It has nothing to do with usability of a pistol. Instead of saying 'ribbed barrel' the dealer must have said 'rifled barrel'. The rifling in the barrel is a sign that tells you whether a handgun has been relatively used or unused. Thnx ankit, spin-drift, and Timmy, will definitely take your advice for deciding on the gun. But is it possible to get a beratta or a walther ppk with my budget bracket?

@ vineet: I meant exactly what I wrote, so according to you that means the external raised ribs on a barrel don't matter much on deciding wrt to a piece. Thnx will keep it in mind. I really want to thank you for the link, it truly helped me expand my knowledge about guns ( nearly mugged the damn glossary about components and terminology ) thnx again wrt to rifling on the barrels, I now understand the importance of it. But I guess one truly has no way of knowing whether the twist rate increases or decreases towards the muzzle.
