Dear IFG"ns,
One of my friend want to buy thispistol whose pics I am inclosing here with.Engraving on Pistol reads".22LR MADE IN USA BERETTA USA CORP ACKKMD".
Weapon is in very nice condition or may be dealer would have make it to look like same.Dealer had told us that he bought the weapon from one of Heir of Rewa (M.P) royal family who is his friend and it is a custom made or SPECIALLY crafted for King of Rewa .It has a barrel lock when it is pushed barrel came out and you can put cartidge in it pull the trigger and semi Auto mechanism of weapon starts.I have never seen such mechanism in any pistol though my knowledge is very less. It"s a 7+1 round capacity magazine
I want to know that do Beretta made tailor made weapons ever.Because price dealer is asking for is a king Ransom a amount of 18 Lakhs RS.My friend wants to buy the weapon for his wife on her liscense( I believe just to show off) though he seeks my advice.Dear friends does this weapon worth this amount,or for which amount we shall bargain for?.Your comments and advices would be very helpful.
Thanks & Regards,
Digvijay singh Tomar

Have seen a better condition one being offered for about 3.75 lacs (negotiable)! That was in .25 ACP and not .22 LR.
A word of advice, don't for a minute believe the b**ls**t the dealer is giving you about the pistol's "royal" connection

Digvijay,
That Royal Connection is just BS.The pistol in question is a bog standard Beretta. There is nothing 'custom made' about it.Also a .25ACP is going to be more reliable than a .22LR ( center fire vs rimfire, semi rimmed v/s rimmed). The velocities given about the .22 LR when making a comparison with the .25ACP are also misleading. While the .22 LR velocities given are from a rifle length barrel, the ones given for the .25ACP is from a much shorter barrel.
For 18 lakhs you will be able to get a .25ACP pistol+ a .32 ACP/.380 Llama pistol + a .32 Webley revolver with lots of spare cash for ammo for all of them.Tell the dealer to shove the custom made pistol up his a**

As Winnie put it very succinctly, Its a standard Beretta pistol, what is now called a Bobcat.
See here for more info about it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beretta_21A_Bobcat
They have been made in the past in Italy and sold under different model numbers. However, if it is made in the US, then it is basically not much different from today's Bobcat. As for the wood grips, you can buy all kinds of grips for these little pistols.
Absolutely nothing special about it. Actually, they are more of a lower end pistol than anything.

.25 ACP is about the most useless caliber one can own. It wont go through a 2mm aluminum sheet at 2 meters. You are better off hitting the person with the weapon than shooting them.

Actually, this pistol could have been made for the Czar of Russia, who in turn gifted it to his cousin, the King of England, who then gifted it to the Maharaja of Rewa. Now, if we only could authenticate that, collectors all over the world would fight for it. Oops, forgot, Beretta hasn't been producing pistols in the US all that long.
It's the cheapest pistol Beretta makes, and not worth a tenth of what this chap is asking. Except, perhaps in India. Sadly.

For 10,000 USd your friend can buy or get a Pistol personalised from leading manufacturers in Germany,Italy,Czekoslavia,Russia, bulgaria. He can have his wife name embossed or premanant printed on it,he may add pink hearts and all that love things.
How about your friend inviting a specialised gunsmith from EU who can tailor make pistol for 2000 USD as per your specification?

TwoRivers,
The dealer missed the bit about how the Maharaja of Rewa used it as his howdah pistol. He had once shot a tiger with his .577 Rewa. The tiger had been wounded and had jumped on his elephant and was trying to claw it's way into the howdah to attack his tormentor when he shot him with this pistol.Perhaps the dealer does not know that bit.Should push up the price by another Rs3,00,000-4,00,000/- at least

Winnie,
I knew that, as the Maharaja had told the story to my grandfather. A white tiger, if I recall correctly. I just wanted to point out that there could have been more ownership history to this very singular pistol.

Better hurry, Winnie. If the story gets out, some one will surely beat you to it. That would be a shame. Good luck with your investment plans!
