Fairly common Spanish rip-off of S&W revolver.

The proofs are Spanish.

On the barrel - 'R' in a stylized bomb-cartouche means Final Proof for Revolver and belongs to the Eibar Proof House. It will not be older than 1929.

On the frame:

1- Crossed Rifles (X) in a crown topped shield also belongs to the Eibar Proof House - It's supposed to be an 'Admission proof for guns with old marks' , again no older than 1929
2- The "R" in a stylized bomb/cartouche is the same as on the barrel
3- The Crowned 'S' seems to be a French Proof (St. Etienne House) - Oddly, its for Finished Black Powder Guns no older than 1897....

So maybe it was an inexpensive Spanish made revolver imported in quantity and reproofed for the French market...and ended up here some how.

From the looks of it, it has seen several refinishes in its lifetime.

cc

Thanks for the info cottage cheese. The guy who sold this to my Dad about 30 years ago, told that its "HURRA" or "HURA" made in Spain. We never bothered to know more about it coz it fires great and pretty light in weight. Being a member of IFG I thought of taking expert opinion from the experts out here. Let me know if you have more information on that.

Thank You

Never heard of "Hurra/Hura" ...quiet so.

The Eibar region of Spain is like Ferlach, Suhl or Darra Adam Khel or why even our Munger area.

Gun making is a traditional cottage industry in these regions.

There are numerous small-time and mostly obscure gun makers based in Eibar. Some known/documented revolvers of Spanish make, that bear a very close resemblance to your revolver are:

.32 Cal Escodin Mod 1926
Manuel Escodin,
Eibar, Spain

.32 Cal T.A.C Trocaola, Aranzabal y Cia.
Eibar, Spain

.38 "Alfa"
Armero Especialistas Reunidas,
Eibar, Spain

.38 Cal "B.H"
Beistegui Hermanos
Eibar, Spain

.38 Cal S&A Revolver
Suinaga y Aramperri
Eibar, Spain

.32/.38/.44 "Errasti Oscillante"
Antonio Errasti
Eibar, Spain (Marketed by Retolaza Hermanos)

.32 Cal "Modelo Cilindro Ladeable"
Trocaola y Aranzabal
Eibar, Spain

.32Cal (long) Modello Policia CORZO (No.7)
Trocola y Aranzabal
Eibar, Spain
