I won't be able to collect pistol on above date.

Any member having idea of procedure for change in collection date could share their experience?

Also, has anybody off late taken the NOC from GSF despite having All India License.

Thanks,
NM
You may have to email them requesting for a reschedule of the appointment. As per the notification of HM and I here by quote " All pistol customers are hereby informed, that All-India Licenses issued by any State or District is not acceptable. Therefore, No Objection Certificate (NOC) for buying pistols from GSF is compulsory for all such license holders. (Vide Order No. : MHA V- 11016/16/2009 - ARMS)

I m the new member to the forum and I have booked .32 pistol from GSF in last year. Now I have been called for collection of the same in January 2013 and my reporting time is scheduled at 9.00 aon 17-1-2012. So plz tell me that it is permissible to reach GSF by delay of 1.5 hrs. and would I got the pistol at Date of collection e.g. 18-1-2012 or they will take more days. pls
answer me
Hi! Krishna, i am also under the same situation, may get late by couple of hours, will they allow? Thanks in anticipation

Please report there by 9 pm at gsf cossipore. In about 30 minutes they would verify your documents and you would be on your way to the office of DCP kolkata, lal bazar for a carry permit. They usually open the gate by about 11. If your late you might find yourself queuing up for a longer time. On Mondays for some reason there is an unusually long queue

Hello Farook,

If I'm not mistaken, this "carry permit" is what's otherwise called the "TL", yes?

Is it only after one gets his documents verified, that he can get a "carry permit"?

After procuring it from the DCP's office, is it only then that one can carry the pistol out of GSF, or is he allowed to take his pistol along immediately after the Document Verification?

Is there a fee to be paid for the "carry permit"? Is there a format of application, or will one need SOE supporting docus from home and/or GSF to present at the DCP's office to get the carry permit?

The carry permit is form 7. You may need to have your documents verified to move on to do DC office. Please carry the NOC from your licencing authority, original pan card, original arms license and deposit slips of the two fund transfers. Make sure you have multiply self attested copies of all the documents. Once your called into the DC office at the counter they verify the documents and you need to pay forty rupees and come back in the evening to collect the NOC. There after please proceed to gsf, cossipore to submit the documents. It may take some time here. There after you need to come back the next day at 10 am to collect your weapon. For the airline please carry a photo copy of the DC noc , you may have to pay 5250 rs for the special package. Please report at the airport one hour early as there is a bit of a paper work to do. They would seal the bag and hand it over personally to you at destination...

Dear Farook,

Your advice has been noted. Thank you!

By 'self attested' photo-copies, do you mean notarized, or just signed by one-self?

I'm also planning to, if I do, pick up some airguns while in Kalkota, do airlines charge a the Rs 5250 for each weapon or can I get them all (probably air rifles) in the same?

I may have to take the good ol' train back to Hyderabad otherwise :p
Oh yes, would the railways require any special or prior permission for carrying firearms too?

Self attested meaning signed by you. The guys at the factory have an attitude problem and can get fussy. The NOC is given with a 7 day nation wide validity and mentions any means of transport. So if you want to visit you cousin in Delhi you can carry the weapon with you but you must reach back to your "license valid area " with in the date as mentioned on noc.

There is not much of an airguns market in kokata. Even thought the taxi driver would take you lal bazar. Really nothing much there. Adjacent to the dc office I saw a huge store selling some old shotguns. The airline charge 5250 per weapon per sector. About railways I really don't know as I have never traveled in a train. I really wont take a chance of getting a weapon over train.

If you want to buy an air gun the best option would be to import from pyramid air. For this however you have to be a member of a state, district level rifle association recognized by the NRAI. Imports are restricted to .177 and not .22. Walter and a bunch of other companies make some good ones at around 40 k price tag.

Thanks Farook Sahab!!, for providing us valuable Inputs. Actually due to strike of UP govt employees, I may not be able to reach on the reporting date mentioned in call letter (i.e. 28-11-2013). I wanted to know in that case, what fresh date of collection I can expect (will it be within a month or more ). And if you can please throw some light in this process. Thanks !!!

Dear Farook,

I asked because I wouldn't want to be short on anything, especially after getting there all the way from Hyderabad.

Pyramydair has been tried and tested and so has RelishSports, both quite satisfactorily, although dealing with RelishSports was more convenient, since they take care of ALL the nittygritties as well.

I figured that Kolkata would be a hub for local make Airguns, and that I could pick up a few plinkers for a deal while there.

Maybe I'll just order from Aimco instead.

So, what's this attitude problem at the Factory about which you made mention, something to be prepared for?

PS: train travel is a luxury in our country if you let it be. Travel AC and grab a book, sleep in, an escape of sorts. Its been over 10 years since I last remember travelling by rail, but I guess I'd take the opportunity, God Willing, if I got one, and time permits.

You can email them they would reschedule the appointment. On request they even give you a date range of like 10 days where you can visit anytime during that period. Please make sure to be there early in the morning. There are thousands of cases where applicants have paid the advance of 25000 rs and never responded.

From their web site.....

TO VIEW THE LATEST MODIFIED PISTOL COLLECTION DATE PISTOL CUSTOMERS ARE REQUESTED TO LOGIN INTO THEIR ACCOUNT AND GET CALL LETTER PRINTED OUT FROM TRACK YOU ORDER MENU.

Click here to view the lists of customers who have failed to report in this factory for collection of 0.32" pistols.

They are therefore, once again requested to report at this factory with the requisite documents i.e. Valid licence with valid purchase period (PP) date, original PAN card, No-objection certificate (for State licence holders), and original bank deposit slips for the payments made towards purchase of pistol) on any date during September / October except Sundays and holidays and collect the pistols.
Holidays : October 2nd, October 11th to 19th.

Their typical attitude. First they call your name then ask for things which you don't have and make you take photo copies of things which you never had to. One guy got a broken carry box requested for a exchange all he got was one big bark lucky no bite. Many boxes did not have keys. I can assure you if the min of home affairs were to restore import of weapons no one would buy the ashani even for free....

GSF expects us to submit documents one day in advance, prior to collection date....that means we have to visit them twice...
"Your Pistol collection date has been scheduled on 04/12/2013 afternoon, You are requested to submit the following details to this office ONE DAY IN ADVANCE / PRIOR TO COLLECTION DATE. ie 03/12/2013 at 9:00 AM."

I called GSF to ask the procedure in case I'm unable to collect pistol on the call letter date, the guy at the other end was surprisingly helpful....he said we can visit any day after the collection date, no need for any special permission.

Regarding NOC for purchasing pistol from GSF, he said not required for All India Licensees ....

This was very different from what I expected....

Actually its three visits as explained. As there has been a clamp down on arms licenses the wait period and demand has dropped.
Do not go by their phone helpline as its not always manned by the right person. Emails however are answered by the marketing department. You need NOC from both the licenseing authority and DC at lal bazar. You may want to confirm this over their email.

Thanks for prompt reply and piece of information :) , I have already mailed them the request, awaiting response. Will update once I get response from GSF marketing cell.

3 visits? How come?

You think NOC from LA and DC is required even for All India Lisencees ?

I have sent them an email today just to be sure...

Yup. First visit in the morning to submit all the documents and collect the requesition form for the NOC. There after back in the evening with the DC noc and submit your original license for entry of the weapons serial number. Back the next morning to collect the weapon. Request you sir NOT to put any unconfirmed information here. If the documents are not in order you would have to come back from there and do it all over again.
