sr26 wrote:30 mauser is a good weapon no doubt, but let me tell u some facts
u can not carry the weapon in your waist. if its in your waist u cannot immediately draw it if you neerooted it.
by the time u draw it a good shooter can place 3-4 shots in u even 2 shots using a desi katta.
dear when you buy a 30 mauser the lever for using the weapon in semi mode is jammegerd. only then its endorsed on your licence so legally you cannot use it in semi mode.
Thank you for the information. Kindly tell me two more facts
1) Which weapon one should own so that he can shoot the bad guy before he places 3-4 shots in you.
2) What's the difference between semi-auto and full auto mode.

Ans1.Go for a revolver my friend and if available try buying hammerless revolver.they are best for self defense."its not the gun but the man behind the gun that shoots and if under attack the weapon should work from either hand and should not have too much machanisms like bolt ,lock magzine etc."trust me"i might sound harsh in words but i am a regular user of weapons for self-defense. i started cocking .315 rifel when i was 10yrs old today i am 36.
Ans2- by full auto mode i mean burst firing and semi mode i mean cocking and firing single shot again i will request that pls dont go on words go on meaning what i am trying to tell.however if you have decided to buy 30 mauser only 2 lacs is the sufficient cost and if needed let me know i will provide you with the contact of the gunsmith in etawah up were you can get it.

why iam am saying this because something in demand is expensive and something not in demand is not expensive. i can bet that in whole of india not 10 pieces of 30 mauser were purchased by gun owners. however i sold mine for 1.30 lacs 2yrs back to an advocate .

sr26: You may not be saying what you mean. "Burst firing" means firing several shots, usually three, with every pull of the trigger. You will find that option only with some assault rifles.
"Semi-auto" means firing one shot for every pull of the trigger, without any required action by the shooter between shots. So what are you trying to tell us?

My opinion of the Mauser C-96 Broomhandle is that it is an excellent gun with some limitations but then all guns have limitations. I grew up with this pistol and still have it in the family though I personally carry a J frame snubby and the J Frame is a joy to carry as it's so easy to conceal.
The C96 is a relatively accurate and powerful self defence weapon , the ammo is a good powerful SD round and availability is not that bad in North India. It's a classic and if used with a shoulder stock makes it very accurate and converts it into a carbine /mini rifle. The bad thing with this gun is the size and conceal ability . If this is a carry gun and you want to carry it concealed it just doesn't work unless one carries it in a shoulder harness type of holster. Your other alternative is a good bag but again it very cumbersome to draw a pistol from a bag if required in a SD scenario. To be fair it's not a very practical carry pistol but I will never sell the one we have. So if carrying the gun concealed is not your big priority buy it... If you want a combination weapon that doubles up to duty as a short rifle buy it... If not go for any other pistol or revolver that you can easily carry concealed.

How can we "trust you". You are trying to teach others about guns but you don't even know the difference between 'full auto' and 'semi auto' yourself.

Sorry to say but you are wrong here. Semi auto doesn't mean cocking and firing single shot again.

After reading sr26's first post, I knew he doesn't know the difference so I asked him.

Why is this thread becoming an ego trip? The guy is asking for help and we are hell bent upon displaying "I know better and my opinion is the final word". Then we gang up and make small groups based on our association and opinions and trash others . This guy is asking for help give him your fair unbiased opinion and at the end help him make an informed choice based on the facts provided by forum members.
It makes me sad how we get personal and start attacking each other.... In case no one has noticed the person who posted the query is quiet. I can only imagine how confused he must be and what opinion would he holding of our forum members.

I had the misfortune of buying a pistol from a very close friend's uncle who is an arms dealer in Allahabad. The weapon,in the first shot, literally split in the front where it was welded. You can imagine the plight of having lost out a huge amount of hard earned money. I still have to get a repayment of close to 40 grands from him.
Moral of the story--even the closest will dupe you given half a chance! Its more so when you are desperate for weapons which you can not be sure of and this forum will give you an idea of what to expect but your call is the final one.Buy only if it comes with a guarantee ( like the one I have now.)
By the way ---The broom does this very well.
DECIDE..Its a weapon of choice for some.
