Re: My New IOF Pistol
Hi Farook Bhai,
Thanks a lot, I do not think and applying a layer of oil will help. I tried Vaseline before filing the bullets but it did not work. Slide spring has enough power to pull the bullet out of magazine if it is not interlocked.
If bullets are in good shape, Insha'Allah you will not face any issue.
Thanks,
Wajhi

Re: My New IOF Pistol with Videos of shooting and ammo filin
Timmy, if we file the ammo to the extent that I have done it, completely rounded, would it effect the accuracy. Is there a risk of the ammo cracking and damaging the barrel

Re: My New IOF Pistol with Videos of shooting and ammo filin
1. DO NOT LUBRICATE THE CASES! THIS IS DANGEROUS IN THE EXTREME!!!! The back pressure on the action will be increased greatly by this. The whole system is dependent on the brass expanding to seal and grip the chamber somewhat when the round is fired. DO NOT DO THIS! THIS IS DANGEROUS IN THE EXTREME!!!!
2. My Hindi isn't very sharp, so I'm not following the description in the video very well.
3. I can't see the video very well. It almost appears that the filing is being done on the edge of the groove, eliminating someplace where the rim is hanging up.
4. I cannot recommend this to people -- it may work or it may not in any or every instance, but how do I have any control over who is doing the filing or what they are filing? If I were to tell people, sure, file away, and they filed too deeply, then it would be my fault for saying, go ahead and file, wouldn't it.
5. But even more, if someone is carrying this pistol to protect themselves, how do they really know whether they have filed enough or too much, and whether they have filed in the right place? I will tell you, you can cycle the action and jack the rounds through the gun 100 times, but it simply is not the same as when it shoots -- only then can you tell whether whatever you have done has been effective and know whether the rounds are going to cycle through the action without a problem. Frankly, if the ammo is hanging up, I wouldn't trust my life and safety to it, no matter what might or might not fix it. If I had the money to buy the gun, I would or should have enough money to at least buy a few rounds of good ammo that I know works. You can use the jamming IOF stuff on the range for practice, where a jam doesn't put you in jeopardy. But why take a chance fiddling with ammo you know is not made right? Leave that stuff at home; I don't see using it to be worth the risk.

Re: My New IOF Pistol with Videos of shooting and ammo filin
Thanks for the tips Timmy. I don't like the ammo either but we have no choice. Legally dealers cannot import calibers made by the IOF in India. There are only two ways of importing ammunition. 1. When coming from abroad we can carry a maximum of 50 in a year if our license permits it. 2. State and District level rifle associations are allowed to import through NRAI the ISSF certified ammos, meaning a .22 LR or .32 SW L BUT NOT THE ACP.

Re: My New IOF Pistol with Videos of shooting and ammo filin
Are you frickin' serious?would you say applying gun oil on the ammo would help further....
Apart from what Tim mentions, you do know that if that oil gets into your primer, it probably won't ignite. You might as well carry a slingshot too because that is the only way you will launch that projectile if the primer gets soaked in oil.
You do know that the .32 ACP cartridge is supposed to have a larger rim than the cartridge casing, right?
As far as filing the rim goes, if you take off enough of the rim, there might not be anything for your extractor to grab onto. If your extractor cannot extract the cartridge, you're left with a single shot pistol. Are you willing to bet your life on this supposed "fix"?
Please note that this "filing fix" is one guys opinion. It is not something promoted by IFG. In fact, it should be discouraged if you're going to use this pistol for self defense.
If you're experiencing rimlock, learn how to load your magazine properly!
Google "rimlock" +".32 ACP"

Re: My New IOF Pistol with Videos of shooting and ammo filin
Here are the dimensions of the .32 ACP cartridge.
Case type Semi-rimmed, straight
Bullet diameter .3125 in (7.94 mm)
Neck diameter .3365 in (8.55 mm)
Base diameter .337 in (8.6 mm)
Rim diameter .358 in (9.1 mm)
Rim thickness .045 in (1.1 mm)
Case length .680 in (17.3 mm)
Overall length .984 in (25.0 mm)
Info from HERE
If you are filing your rim diameter and thickness to below that specified, your cartridge is now out of specification. You will have extraction problems if you do this as your extractor could lack enough purchase and slip off the rim. This is also quite likely if you round off the inside edge of your rim which will result in even less purchase for your extractor.
Here, from a well known US maker of .32 ACP pistols are some very clear and succinct instruction on loading the magazine of a .32 ACP pistol.

info from HEREAs the .32 ACP is semi-rimmed, take special care not to push the rim behind the
previous round or tilt down the front of the cartridge. A firm tap on the back of the
magazine to align the rounds is a good habit with any magazine.

Great info there Xl Target. Would keep all points in mind. EDITED BY MODERATOR Regarding the ejection I have ejected all the ammos and they worked well. Hope they work when firing as well. I have forwarded this feedback to GM of GSF. Request other Ifg members to email them in order to pressurize them to bring about the refinement....

Re: My New IOF Pistol with Videos of shooting and ammo filin
I think there is little confusion.Term rimlock they are using here is wrong.a ringlock happens when a rim of cartridge is locked or cought by the rim of another cartridge.what is happning here is base or shoulder of cartridge is catching rim of another cartridge. EDITED BY MODERATOR i completly agree with timmy and xl over oiling cartridge.once i heavyly oiled my magzine result was when i fired primer ignited but powder didnt and i had a bullet stuck in middle of barrel

Re: My New IOF Pistol with Videos of shooting and ammo filin
This whole business is getting quite out of hand and is not in keeping with what we here at IFG are trying to promote, as XL says, which is LEGAL SAFE RESPONSIBLE gun ownership in India.
It is not safe to carry the 32 pistol with a round in the chamber. This point has been made many many times on IFG; I know because I have said it myself.
It is not safe to have any lubrication on cartridge cases. Doing so can cause the force of firing a cartridge to exceed the pressures the gun can handle.
]IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO FILE INCORRECTLY MANUFACTURED CARTRIDGES!
We here at Indians for Guns, as has been stated, stand for Legal, Safe, and Responsible gun ownership. Anyone reading this discussion would quickly come to the conclusion that there are members here who do not exhibit these traits and come to conclusions not in keeping with our goals here at IFG.
