Some thing rare like Coonan .357 mag will fetch good price and if some has to keep it instead selling it will be much easier to carry around than Desert eagle. Another good news is Coonan inc. has started making them again after almost 25 years.

Hi rraju2805,

In Kolkata the police issues separate licence for every weapon. Gone are those single document days.

Hi TC. no you cant keep 3 Handguns on one license unless you are one of the special ones { The list of the special ones is very detailed,so will send you a PM on the same},one weapon of one kind,is permitted on 1 Arms License i.e a Smooth Bore Gun,a N.P Bore Rifle,a N.P Bore Pistol/Revolver,as a part of the above mentioned list a 22 LR Rifle is allowed as a 4th weapon,if you are a part of the List.

Please specify the make and caliber. I know a gun brought under transfer of residence can't be sold into open market. So I just want the knowledge. So please enlighten me with your knowledge about guns and Indian market.....thanks a lot.

Dear Amit357,
Did not understand your confusion. This is precisely what I wrote. The Kolkata Police issues separate licence for every weapon. I myself had four licences, (the fourth one for a .22 Winchester rifle I just could not resist when a dealer from UP showed the piece :) )

Earlier, (and I am talking of at least 22 years here) when I got first handgun licence my dad had two weapons registered in one licence and a third weapon in another licence. In fact one of my uncles had a "second licence" for one of the rifles my dad had. Those days are gone. I could go on lecturing on how district magistrates and sub-divisional officers issue licences and how their rules differ (and used to differ) from those imposed by police commissioners.
If, at 45, I did not know simple gun laws I would be in serious trouble with a dozen odd weapons in the family.... Don't you agree ?

Regards
TC

I have an IOF .32 pistol.I am willing to sell it for Rs.25 lakhs  If it sells, that would make it the most expensive handgun in India.

This is pure BS man, the imported weapons in india are so expensive. By this law isn't the govt. compelling the citizens to buy only from IOF ? That way it is creating the monopoly and which is wrong. Time to put a PIL and challenge this BS.

I would say if anybody is planning to bring in a pistol on TR then get the CZ 83 in .32ACP. I love the pistol and that's what I am going to do. Ammo is available in India easily and its at reasonable price. In the US, we Indians come across so many different and beautiful guns that we are smitten by it and cannot let it go. Then we bring in a NPB caliber with very difficult to get ammo and the pistol becomes a museum piece :D.

The star 1911 style in .32acp are not available in the US coz they are no longer produced, but whoever has it, they are beautiful :D
